@shiny_aviators & @Seja

Hi everyone!

@shiny_aviators
Yes, I've been waiting for a response since March 3rd (date of final interview). About three weeks ago, the ones who made it to the FI and are waiting for a response got an e-mail from Argentina's appointed agency saying that in a couple of weeks we would be getting a response (a positive one BTW) but we should be patient. So far, we haven't heard from them.

@Seja
Thanks a lot for the info, now it makes sense why they are keeping us waiting. I guess there's nothing left to do but keep waitig for a bit longer.

Cheers!

how often does this airline recruit in POS

While I was completing my degree, I often saw advertisements for this airline recruitment, but now that I am done I am not seeing that they are coming to port of spain, Trinidad in the near future. Does anyone know how often they do come? I made it through qatar airways but they failed me for medicals (for no reason as my reports were great). My friends advised that i try emirates instead.

I am new here

Hi everybody,

is it true that currently Emirates is training new cabin crew only for main fleet and not A380? Doj is July 20th (was just changed from July 22nd), and I am wondering what new information there is. Also, does anybody have knowledge of where the new joiners will most likely be housed?

Thank you.

Hi flyguy87, I had my FI on March 3rd, and still waiting for a response. I spoke to Emirates appointed agency here in Argentina on Monday and they said Emirates is having some internal issues, that's why they are taking so long to get back to us. Apparently training college is working at full capacity retraining A380 cabin crew or somethin' like that.
Anyways, we were told to keep waiting, they could not specify how much longer though, could be 1 month or 1 year. My status has been Approval in progress for the last 3 1/2 months, so...
Hope this info helps.
Hugs.

Status is still "Applied"

Hello there all. I had my assessment day on the 18th of May in NZ and my status on the EK porthole is still listed as "Applied" Is anyone here in the same boat as me?? Are there any others that have been in the same situation that can share there experience? It seems that there are many on here that are playing the waiting game. Are there also any current EK crew that may also be able to advise what is the best way to make contact with someone in EK that may be able to offer any information?

Kind regards

givemewings

Thank you givemewings. I UN-TICKED the checkbox for "Receive Email from Other Members" long time ago & again just now , however after clicking save it is TICKED again which means I'm still allowing emails
That made me think it's mandatory , unchangeable option or something & that's why I was asking for enabling me to change it. (perhaps it is a glitch ).

The rough patch with emails is over but I don't wish for it to happen again so if administrators can somehow help me with this I'll be grateful. I still appreciate being part of your community & all the decent people I've met here.

You could try asking on the Tech/Computer forum (right at bottom of main forums page) did you try clearing the browser's cache & cookies?

Thank you guys, the checkbox is officially Unticked !

Yes, I did apply from Egypt. I can't help you with your question simply because I don't know anything about the recruiters in Alexandria or Sharm El Sheikh. I only applied a couple of times from Cairo. Better luck next time.

Angel Waiting for GC

Dear All,

I have read this forum since the first time i have the thought of being a CA for EK. This forum had helped me a lot for the preparation process before applying for EK. Hereby, i would like to share my experience in the AD in Ho Chi Minh - Vietnam on June 24th 2012 which i do believe that ti's the same as elsewhere. I will make it as detail as possible because i was desperately look for some detailed interview to prepare. It was quite a long and tiring day however, i really really cant wait for the result ahead.

Let's start from the beginning. There is an EK's recruitment agency in Vietnam called Sovilaco which provide us full information about EK, benefits and stuffs, they also advise us about the documents should be prepared in the AD and how to dress properly. So instead of having an OD with EK, we were screened out by the Agency about the reach test, CV drop and appearance. We also had a Pre-english test before the AD.

My AD was on July 24, 2012 and i cam there with my colleague whom i was so sure that she is suitable for being an CA as well. We arrived at 8.00am and have a brief introduction about FA in EK and EK itself. The Recruiters came at around 9.30 and we had a little QA session about life in Dubai and life as a FA. The Recruiters were 2 beautiful and extremely nice girls, one from India and another 1 from Bangladesh. After the sharing, we were divided into 4 big groups consisted of around 18 - 19 members (there were totally 74 candidates on that date).

I was in group 3, group 3 and 4 were asked to leave the room to conduct the first introduction test and reach test. After 1 hour, we came back and were very nervous about our turn. We had to wait for the result from the first group before coming to the hall. And hell, the girl in first group told us that "too many had failed"!! and that create the huge pressure!!

In the introduction round, we were asked to sit base on our reference number in a circle and interview the person in the right side of us and present about them in 60 seconds (so i have to give my information to the person from the left side for her presentation). we had around 30mins to introduce and while in turn we were asked to make the reach test (212cm tip toe) and a little chat (around 2-3 mins with the recruiter). After the Reach test, the recruiter asked us to make presentation one by one (in my opinion, this is the time for them to look at your appearance and your English speaking intonation and pronunciation) After this round, totally 22 out of 74 of us made it to the next round. As usual, they gave us the letter which said "congratulation" or "unfortunately"... I was lucky i made it to the next round, so does my colleague.

Second round, we were asked to do the English test (reading and writing). the reading part was very easy and i dont think you guys should worry about it. It was an announcement about the course in the University and another 1 asked you to give the meaning of the signs or the pieces of announcement board. The difficult part was the writing in which they asked us to crossed out the topics on the paper and started writing their topic "the 3 personality traits that you would like to improve".
After this round, still the letters were passed out and 22 became 11 unfortunately my colleague was sent home. I was the lucky one whom got to the next round.

The third round, group discussion, they divided us into 2 groups consisted of 5 and 6 candidates. We were asked to discuss about 2 topic:
- among 10 things in the list, please list out 5 items that you would like to bring during the emergency landing and prioritize the most important 1
- which one is more important? fame of fortune?
In my opinion (and also from others in this forum) DO NOT stand out in this round. you should blend in the group and stand in the background because they are not looking for the group leader but a person whom is easy going and can work well in group. So what you should do now is sit back, put a nice smile on your face, and some magical spell :" ya, you are right", "i agree", "that's a good point"! There were a girl in my group spoke a lot (she was working for Asiana Airlines i think) based on her experience and bla bla bla. But then, 3 out of 11 were sent home with their "unfortunate letter" including the girl in my group.

In short, after the long tiring day from 8.00AM to 7.00PM, there were 8 of us made it to the FI and were asked to do some paper works about the tatoo, application forms, email, and the psychometric test online and the documents to bring in FI in the following day. We were asked to submit the online psychometric test before 10.00pm (it would take you about 1 hour and the questions about your personality such as "are your comfortable working in group?")

They asked us not to worry about the FI in the following day, that would be a sharing between sisters. But still it left high pressure not only for me, but for them as well. In the interview, they asked about your previous experience in service industry and asked have you experienced some specific cases and mention the example. and they helped me checking up the documents. they told me that i can submit the casual photos via email in the nearest time. I have sent all the documents to their email but they havent confirmed whether they have received those.

And now I do really really looking forward to get their GC within 3 weeks. and this 3 weeks is as long as 3 whole year!!!

Really really hope that i can get this. I have been wanting this job soo very bad.

Good luck guys for your AD and for this EK.

Really hope that we can meet in Dubai Soon. #fingercross!!!
