JENKINS 27th Apr 2020 11:15

Kings Day

Off topic; simply good wishes to The Bear on this important day. My celebration of my own National Day somewhat muted two months ago.

When all was pride and sunshine:

We still have an Open House.

Who knew 777's get that hot on re-entry...

Great photo, SLB. I chanced to see that beauty flying just off the east coast of the UK last week, I think it was. Even at 30-odd,000 feet she was very striking, the orange and blue standing out to the naked eye.

As we still have open house something discussed weeks ago:

We were discussing if it was easier to find a horse race track than an airport

jensdad 2nd May 2020 23:57

Interesting photo. The top bit looks very much like your neck of the woods (the Netherlands) but the bottom part looks more Eastern European?

Archer4 4th May 2020 12:15

Its Emmeloord, The Netherlands. Quite easy to spot because there are not that many racetracks.

Not sure what is has to do with airports though?

Self loading bear 4th May 2020 13:18

Emmeloord It is!
Archer has control.

The discussion in February was that it was easier to find horse race tracks than Aerodromes in the Netherlands.
The former landingstrip Emmeloord Noordoostpolder EHNP was located along the road at the top of the photo.

I think my next challenge will be with a cricket or rugby pitch!

Nice photo of an interesting little aircraft! What's the logo on the tail?

van Beek
van Beek was a aerial spray company from south west part of the Netherlands, Melissant (Zeeland)
Later the plane was owned by Bogaerds Cord but they maintained the logo on the tail.

jensdad 4th May 2020 22:24

Thanks for that info. I used to have a work contact from Zeeland called van Beek.

I guess they do night flights as well
At least they are open 24/7

grizzled 5th May 2020 17:22

SLB: yes indeed (re the terminal building being open 24/7) :ok:

No lights and no pavement back then -- but we landed in a 4 engined aircraft

mgahan 5th May 2020 20:27

Somewhere in Africa?

MJG

G-ARZG 5th May 2020 20:40

Gatwick 2021 (too soon?)

grizzled 5th May 2020 20:44

MJG: Go east 6000 miles or so from (central) Africa.
