To be fair it's only about 15 minutes out from the centre - and the well heeled all live on that side of town as well
have you seen London Stansted or London Oxford...................... they're well over 50 miles out IIRC the old Spitting Image TV show had Ryanair advertising "London Mt Pleasant -easier to get to than Stansted, less delays that Heathrow" |
Then there was the re-naming of East Midlands to Nottingham East Midlands about 20 years ago.
Caused some confusion with UPS crews looking at Tollerton. Also, the the nearest city is Derby and it's in Leicestershire. |

The one furthest away is Cigli airbase. Google earth has the nearer one as Cigli Military Airport.

AGGGHHHH _ I saw that one when I was looking all over Turkey a few days ago for Canakkale - it was so odd I'd filed it for a future challenge.
But I was on the road yesterday and, once again, fame and fortune passed me by.......... :ouch: PS any reason they didn't put a small taxi strip connecting the two airstrips? They could use it as a road for day to day use. |
