Looks a bit temporary to me - is that a B-17 in the background?

evansb 6th Aug 2019 16:03

Walker AAF, Kansas, U.S.A. ?

dook 6th Aug 2019 16:08

Not Walker and it is a B17.

dook 6th Aug 2019 16:10

Well, let's see if it helps.

evansb 6th Aug 2019 16:24

Ainsworth AAF, Nebraska ?

dook 6th Aug 2019 16:39

Not Nebraska.

JENKINS 6th Aug 2019 17:11

Watch for the sting in the tail. Rattlesnake, Texas. Quite a name, aka Pyote.

Auxtank 6th Aug 2019 17:11

Clouds look Pacific. Some atoll somewhere?

dook 6th Aug 2019 17:14

Nicely done J.

Also known as Pyote.

Your take-off.

Auxtank 6th Aug 2019 17:17

Cancel that about the clouds then...

dook 6th Aug 2019 17:19

If JENKINS goes OH, which I doubt, get yer fiendish one ready.

Auxtank 6th Aug 2019 17:20

Not ready - not sufficiently fiendish for "the dook" ...yet.

JENKINS 6th Aug 2019 17:24

dook 6th Aug 2019 17:26

Is that bard as in Shakespeare ? :E

Auxtank 6th Aug 2019 17:27

Right.
Shakespeare country.

JENKINS 6th Aug 2019 17:29

Clue too easy!

Auxtank 6th Aug 2019 17:31

RAF Atherstone my Liege.

evansb 6th Aug 2019 17:35

Regarding Pyote "Rattlesnake" AAF Texas, I have noticed that "Airfields-Freeman Abandoned and Little Known Airfields" web site uses the same photo of the WW.II flight line for Walker AAF Kansas, as Wikipedia uses for Pyote, Texas.

JENKINS 6th Aug 2019 17:36

Yes to Atherstone, and to its later name. The central building complex within the disused field was a very useful known point for murky low-level days.

All yours. Interesting Evans point, Pyote very large.

Auxtank 6th Aug 2019 17:42

Yeah verily, Open House.

"For I have greater work henceforth to book,
To confound and beguile the mighty dook."

(See what I did with Iambic Pentameter there?)
