Affirmative to your first two observations. As you suspect, it isn't Dusseldorf, nor anywhere else in Germany.

Continuing.....
Found some more but with a wide blue band around the cowlings. |
Found another similar but in a foreign language - Croatian I think.
|
The photo's from my own collection so won't be on any web platforms. BA Airbuses are regular visitors at this airfield though, so there should be plenty of photos from more or less the same viewpoint, although maybe not for the last year or two.
Continue... :) |
Might it be Zagreb ?
|
Poppin' oot noo, so will answer any any suggestions at approx 1600Z
|
Ooof, you caught me just in time. It is indeed Zagreb. The terminal building that I took the snap from in 2015 has now closed, replaced with a shinier and less soulful one (as per one of my last challenges at La Palma).
The control is yours, Mr. d. |
Thank you kindly jensdad. I thought it would be a lot easier than it was.

Eagle Farm, Queensland, Australia?
OH if correct. |
Good shooting Dora - your home territory. :ok:
Eagle Farm it is. Dora-9 has called OH. |
Another in a seemingly endless series of “Aerodromes I’ve been to”. In my day: https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....631e73c3d.jpeg Now: https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....655809b83.jpeg |
Afternoon India.
Long shadow on the sign. I guess high latitude or early/late in the day. |
Newquay aka St Mawgan
|
I guess fairly low latitude as toilets on old photo have louvres and new building has large sun roof and airco standing outside. Driving right side of the road. So not a former British overseas. Disciplined- regulated country (clean kept, short grass, many signs etc.) so probably not Mediterranean and lots of other parts of the world. |
I agree with you about low latitude. I think we are probably looking east.
Looks like a fairly warm place as well. Not sure about driving on the right - what makes you think that ? |
2 Road signs right side of the road/entrance of parking. About regulated disciplined: I might have to come back on that as India’s car is on No parking area. SLB |
The right sign is facing to our left presumably towards traffic.
I therefore think the driving is on the left side of the road. If that's the case it would narrow things down nicely. Perhaps we'll find out from India. |
Interesting observations. Fairly low latitude, although not in the tropics. That rules out St. Mawgan unless there’s been a lot of Continental drift since I was last there! A fairly disciplined country, depending on your definition. This should resolve the steering-wheel issue: https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....09eefe99a.jpeg During my research, I have discovered that the first terminal picture actually post-dates my visit to the mystery aerodrome. There was a very unconventional check-in procedure when I was there, although I don’t remember it PS dook posted while I was composing. Eagle-eyed as befits a WIWOL. |
Cheers India.
Driving on the left now points me to Oz. |
Crikey, dook’s on the right track! Keep going until you nearly get to the black stump, mate! |
