Three hours, so one of mine. Haven't flown here, but passed by on occasion. Two separate flying services when an airfield, one of them flying Merlin-powered bomber types in WW2, and during said war a renowned actor flew here albeit not on a Merlin machine. Still military, I believe.

No, but one of those had been involved with the then wife of my pilot from this field. You asked the correct question to circumvent my spoof! And indeed, one of those had acted with a British actor who died in a WW2 aerial incident.

I could introduce a de Havilland theme were I to delve into school, pilots, films and so on. There is certainly a de Havilland link 15 miles north, en route to a school which is 45 miles north. Orientation W - E, road to left leads to DH link. Without going deeper, I am unaware of any Olivia link.

Let's try the pilot and school link. My pilot, at this field, and apparently a hopeless aviator, was schooled at an institution which produced three much finer aviators, and all three from a different flying service to my man. My pilot, an actor, did not feature in any of the three films inspired by the three much finer pilots. Alex Guiness did though.

Pre-dates Witchford by many years. I think WW2 passed by my field in terms of offensive ops from the location. It came to the notice of the Luftwaffe, and a prominent Irishman of the time reported it sunk.

Not Mount Farm, but one of those educated at the same establishment as my pilot met his end from Mount Farm.

Current use seems to be Scibblies, Schoolies, Snowdrops, and Blanket Stackers. Must now retreat into Anderson Shelter, avoiding flak.

Well Lord Haw Haw reported that HMS Raven had been sunk. Depending which bit of Wikipedia you believe then that could either be Eastleigh or Christchurch neither of which seem to fit the picture.
