By going west, I meant west of Tarakan.

`Shed` in corner..? France, thought it was Issoudun-le Fay...where an Anson took part in the types only agent pick-up in WW2,
ref`Black Lysander` by Nesbitt-Dufort.......?
unfortunately background veg .doesn`t match....

JENKINS 16th Jun 2019 13:37

Not France Sycamore. The aircraft on display would have filled that role, same speed as Anson. I have operated the occasional no-lights night operation in the same.

Presume we are not in UK...
Are we in Greece perchance..?

JENKINS 16th Jun 2019 14:37

Not Greece, but certainly mainland Europe. Military, more or less.

Irish Concorde indeed it is.

Not Polish.

Ceterum Arminius pugnavit prope, and won 2010 years ago. His memorial retains the evidence of heavy machine gun fire - P47 or 51 perhaps.

Detmold Germany
but could not locate hangar

JENKINS 16th Jun 2019 20:26

That's close, I am sure that 'Herman the German' will have helped. Not Detmold, I fear, though I am sure there will have been a link between Detmold and the Poloponeese.

So, keep looking. The four letter title which may help is on the roof of another hangar, but not yet.

dook 16th Jun 2019 20:27

Yes - Herman.

Surprised a few people at 450 knots there I can tell you.

Lippspringe.

JENKINS 16th Jun 2019 20:49

Yes, That's it. Rhine Army Parachute Association, with Polo on the south side of field. Operating and visiting at various times, good fun. I knew that Herman would get a bite.
