Vichy was the clue to Siam.

nvubu 25th Jun 2019 19:26

Not sure where Vichy came from.

Dook has it with Lampang.

Interesting read. https://www.chiangmaicitylife.com/ci...hern-thailand/

JENKINS 25th Jun 2019 19:30

Vichy was not an enemy of USA, as in a clue above.

dook 25th Jun 2019 20:15

I spent too long on that one.

Siam wasn't Vichy, and was the only SE Asian country to avoid western rule.

Declared war on UK and USA after being invaded by Japan just before Pearl Harbor, but the ambassador to USA refused to deliver the declaration, so USA considered the country as occupied.

dook 25th Jun 2019 20:20

I too wondered what Vichy was all about.

Let’s try this with aircraft ID:
2 engine high wing
engine nacelles extend behind wing, short fuselage
Could be grumman C-1 Trader?

Duchess_Driver 26th Jun 2019 00:22

Too long for Traders, too thin for Providers - my money would be on Caribou.

India Four Two 26th Jun 2019 02:08

The shadows indicate that that the wings and tailplanes on the "Caribous" are about the same height off the ground, so my money is on an An-26 or similar. Which would mean that the four aircraft at the top right might be Il-28s.

Interesting thoughts
based on that I say Semyazino Airport.
It doesn’t match but when you go to howling pixel AN-26 it is the airport mentioned at the very bottom.
;) ;)

Big place Russia............ we're going to need more clues....................

dook 26th Jun 2019 08:24

Russia is indeed a big place, but that's not where we are.

Asturias56 26th Jun 2019 08:33

That's what I call a really good clue..............................

So are we in Europe?

dook 26th Jun 2019 08:57

Yes, we are in Europe.

The photograph was taken just before a raid which I believe destroyed a lot of the aircraft.

A conflict in the late nineties involving NATO.

Is that a better clue ?

I think it's this airfield SW of Nova Pazova in the former Yugoslavia.

Good morning dook. Thanks

Have just seen the English translation of its name; Batajnica Air Base.

As I am about to go out for the evening, I think I had better call OH as I won't be available until tomorrow.

dook 26th Jun 2019 09:37

Batajnica it is indeed.

Pity about the OH.

Asturias56 26th Jun 2019 10:15

Lets try somewhere warmer..............
