Aux - I absolutely accept your word - I never thought you'd done so for a minute - it would take away the whole point of playing.

I just wanted to point out to people that they should check their images before posting......... I was about to search around Bergen TBH

Aux should take up the the challenge which I think he's won fair & square

dook 16th Jul 2019 15:01

The last time I suggested that a confirmation from someone other than the OP was acceptable I was shot down, despite it being a fair idea.

We must now wait for confirmation from jensdad

Of course.
After Asturias' most gracious reply I retract my OH and I have a challenge awaiting the thread's indulgence.

dook 16th Jul 2019 15:53

Excellent - I look forward to it.

jensdad 16th Jul 2019 17:57

Hello auxtank, it is indeed Reykjavik, with a Flugfelag Islands Fokker 50 making a photogenic approach over the lake and church.
I will agree with asturias on this occasion that when the poster has been stupid enough not to change the name of the photo, it would have been fair enough to move on with the thread. I'll be renaming from now on :)

Looking forward to your challenge, auxtank!

Thanks jensdad - I didn't see the file name on this occasion because I haven't played for a while and forgot that that can be a very quick way to a sly victory - albeit a hollow one at that.

I accept the win - thank you - and nominate jensdad to have another go!

I shall keep my challenge for another day...

jensdad 16th Jul 2019 18:51

Hi auxtank, that's very gracious of you, but I trust that you solved the challenge by fair means. I haven't got anything handy at present so I'll throw it back to you (did you say you had another challenge ready to go?) If you would rather call Open House that will also be fine by me.

Thanks jensdad, what magnificent fairplay demonstrated by all on this thread.

Here we go lads.

(Positive Rate...Gear Up!)

You lucky bu**er in your EE!

All I'm checking at this point is:
Eng Bleeds
Packs (so the little darlings out the back are comfortable)
Gear Up and Off
Flaps Up, No Lights.

You'd be supersonic at this point no doubt and breaking green-house glass below.

dook 16th Jul 2019 19:43

Thanks for the sentiments - 'twas fun in the old days - I was 21 when I first got my paws on the beast.

Had to get the gear up fast or you'd trap the nosewheel at 250.

Are we in Georgia ?

Based on total envy dook.
I would have loved to have flown the Lightning more than anything - but would have probably crashed horribly. Huge Respect to you.

Describe in one sentence what she was like to fly.

Negative; Georgia.

dook 16th Jul 2019 19:51

Extremely forgiving - short of fuel on start up - you could actually see the fuel gauges moving in burner - exhilarating - breathtaking climb performance.

Zat enough ?

Wonderfully concise description. Nice one.

No, we ain't in Georgia.

(CRZ PWR selected on FMC at FL 360) Pax pissed and happy or sleeping. CC bitching amongst themselves. I want a cup of coffee so will have to leave the fate of the aircraft to the CP - Fate Is The Hunter - Standard flight.

dook 16th Jul 2019 20:04

Going up...

Auxtank 16th Jul 2019 20:08

Wish I could do that in an A320 just to shut the Pax up.

That's very you.

dook 16th Jul 2019 20:17

Your challenge I would describe as GA and the R/W doesn't seen to be in great condition.

Northern USA ?

Naaah.
We are not in Northern USA.

Auxtank is nipping up his local for a "Tiger Frightener" and then going to his scratcher.

I leave one clue behind; I haven't been on "Which Aerodrome" for a bit, so this one was a Settler...

Cheers!

dook 16th Jul 2019 20:26

Have one on me.

dook 16th Jul 2019 21:07

South Carolina ?

Asturias56 17th Jul 2019 07:43

Looks very like the Carolinas or Maryland near what looks like a big river estuary without much tide

Runway heading is interesting further south tends to be 18 - 13 suggests maybe further north or a very constrained site - island?

Auxtank 17th Jul 2019 10:01

Both certainly close.
Asturias' navigational whims closer still.

dook 17th Jul 2019 10:10

Is your image orientated to north ?

Asturias56 17th Jul 2019 10:14

Can't be - runway marking 13 is at 01:00 on the clock - if it was N oriented it would be at 10:00 or 11:00

I reckon the buildings in the top RH of the image is closer to N

Asturias56 17th Jul 2019 10:15

Are we in the Confederacy here?

Asturias56 17th Jul 2019 10:18

Sometimes you are lucky - I opened GE zoomed into Maryland (which I had diligently searched for 45 minutes over breakfast coffee) and lo and behold

Williamsburg Jamestown airport NW of Newport News

dook 17th Jul 2019 10:22

Well done 56. :D

Asturias56 17th Jul 2019 10:28

Pure luck this morning................. :O It was slap bang in the middle of the zoom

I shall go to the Casino this evening.....................

Well done Asturias.
I was about to drop a hint that I was nipping out to the corner shop for some hand-rolling tobacco.

Nice little airport if you ever want to visit Jamestown and its historic associations.

Asturias56 17th Jul 2019 16:17

dook 17th Jul 2019 16:29

I often wonder where you get your challenges from.

I think this is one of your own photographs.

Maybe Italia.

Asturias56 17th Jul 2019 16:47

That's a secret! Some are my own pictures - or pictures from friends and colleagues who know I like all things aero......

That is definitely NOT Italy... here's one when the sun shone.... but its not always winter here

off out until late evening

Auxtank 17th Jul 2019 16:54

Asturias - you're in and out like a dog at a fair.

Are we still in USA?

Asturias56 17th Jul 2019 17:07

Busy busy busy - keep moving and it's hard to convict you of anything - or give you another job......

No this is not in the USA

dook 17th Jul 2019 17:23

Lowland N Germany ?

dook 17th Jul 2019 17:36
