The surrounding trees on the airfield are very similar to those at Mulhouse, looking at video & photos of the unfortunate loss of the A320 when it could not climb away.

TheiC 16th Jan 2019 20:00

An older view but from roughly the same place...https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/pprune....c7e2a6533a.jpg

dook 16th Jan 2019 21:02

What a great twelve hour day...….:ugh::ugh::ugh:

TheiC 16th Jan 2019 21:25

If you’re getting frustrated just ask and I’ll post the answer. I don’t want to hold things up.

no, have us search some more.

Checklist Charlie 16th Jan 2019 21:43

Is this a competition to identify some airfield or other or a competition to see who can make up the most obscure of clues?

TheiC 16th Jan 2019 21:46

Katowice-Muchowiec, Poland.

TheiC 16th Jan 2019 21:53

Open house.

grizzled 16th Jan 2019 21:57

TheiC

On behalf of ppruners (both long-timers and newbies) who've been sitting quietly by, I apologise to you for the rudeness of some of the posters here. They've been complaining for months about the lack of interest in the forum, especially from "non-regulars" and then they lash out like privileged boors -- all the while bending their own newly resurrected and posted rules as suits them -- or ignoring them completely.

Disgusting

Auxtank 16th Jan 2019 22:17

Mid January.

A depressing time of year to say the least.

Auxtank 16th Jan 2019 22:25

Okay - here we go. And it's going to be tricky.

Back onboard zulu morning.

India Four Two 17th Jan 2019 04:36

TheiC,

I agree with grizzled. I’ve been playing this game for more years than I can remember. Some players are becoming too impatient.

No one should feel pressured into revealing their challenge.

kaikohe76 17th Jan 2019 06:28

Hi Auxtank & others, the concrete slabs remind me of Sleap in Shropshire.

Auxtank 17th Jan 2019 07:46

On looking they are similar.

All be it on a smaller scale...

Asturias56 17th Jan 2019 07:53

As a newboy I find this thread fascinating...

some of the old challenges (and clues) are amazing

I do agree tho that people need to be less impatient.. Pprune has worldwide coverage and most people only log in once a day at most I suspect. Sometimes this thread gets like a chat room with literally instant responses. I prefer the e older, more relaxed tempo.....

I am totally with you, Asturias. It is for that reason that I have not posted for quite a while - that, & the fact that I haven't had any idea of any of the airfields I/Ds !

BSD 17th Jan 2019 08:33

Best thread on PPrune!

Latest challenge: haven't a clue!

BSD.

Auxtank 17th Jan 2019 08:46

If these cows could talk...

Having frustrated myself yesterday because I couldn't find the challenge, I am not going to annoy myself today.

This one might be in the UK. A fire hydrant (I think) in the middle of a airfield is certainly unusual.

Maybe weapons were involved.

TheiC 17th Jan 2019 09:12

They certainly were. Greenham Common.

TheiC 17th Jan 2019 09:13

...and open house if correct.

Auxtank 17th Jan 2019 09:18

Yes, there are many, many hydrants dotted around. They were once used in panick-stricken earnest, pumping over a million gallons of water for nearly 16 hours in 1958. But we don't talk about that!

Haven't a clue 17th Jan 2019 09:18

BSD completely agree

Latest challenge: haven't a clue!
Nor I

TheiC does it again.

OH is called.

dook 17th Jan 2019 09:34

Ah - Greenham.

I did a couple of air displays there back in 1976.

The Embassy cigarette company event hostesses...……...better not. :E

Lightnings?

dook 17th Jan 2019 10:27

There's only one Lightning as far as I am concerned, but yes - P38s.

Auxtank 17th Jan 2019 10:46

Now that is the truth.

Are we in Europe ?

dook 17th Jan 2019 10:55

We are indeed in Europe.

sycamore 17th Jan 2019 11:29

At a guess ..Italy..?

dook 17th Jan 2019 11:32

Sadly not - go north.

Another clue is available....

chevvron 17th Jan 2019 11:43

Coltishall?

Auxtank 17th Jan 2019 11:48

370th Fighter Group at Cardonville ?

dook 17th Jan 2019 11:51

Not Colt but Auxtank is close.

Auxtank 17th Jan 2019 12:19

370th or near Cardonville?

dook 17th Jan 2019 12:22

370th it is but you need to go east from France.

Auxtank 17th Jan 2019 13:53

Belgium. Florennes then?

ExAscoteer 17th Jan 2019 13:57

Florennes? Damn Auxtank got there first.
