dook 12th Jul 2019 15:39

I have found a different photo of it - Washington DC.

The trick often is to use the word "airplane" and not aeroplane of aircraft.

dook 12th Jul 2019 19:08

If Washington is correct it will be OH.

evansb 12th Jul 2019 19:19

North American F-82 Twin Mustang. Location? Probs. It is your turn. i.e. OPEN HOUSE.

dook 12th Jul 2019 19:29

Cheers.

I have called OH.

Think its a Lockheed 10 Electra but I'm damned if I can find a registration NC149xx that was allocated serial 71

Presumably NW USA?

nvubu 13th Jul 2019 07:52

Speedway Field?

dook 13th Jul 2019 08:10

The aeroplane belonged to Northwest Airlines. Continuing search.

nvubu 13th Jul 2019 08:12

Ignore my previous - Felts Field, Spokane. Hangar still exists.

evansb 13th Jul 2019 08:26

nvubu is correct. Felts Field, KSFF, Spokane, Washington, U.S.A. The birth-place of crooner Bing Crosby. Your turn.

nvubu 13th Jul 2019 09:11

Thank you.And the next.

dook 13th Jul 2019 09:12

Good grief.

Is that a Caribou ?

evansb 13th Jul 2019 09:14

Churchill, Manitoba ?

nvubu 13th Jul 2019 09:24

Not Churchill, Manitoba, and no it isn't a Caribou

dook 13th Jul 2019 09:40

I don't suppose the aircraft type will help, but is it a CASA 295 somewhere in Canada ?

nvubu 13th Jul 2019 09:53

The aircraft type might help.
https://ps3zpg.bn.files.1drv.com/y4m...&cropmode=none

Not in Canada

dook 13th Jul 2019 10:04

Thanks - got the aeroplane.

Anything to do with a polar expedition ?

nvubu 13th Jul 2019 10:14

Thought you might.

Yes to polar

I don't think this will last much longer - better show some more of the photos I've prepared :ok:

dook 13th Jul 2019 10:16

This aeroplane crashed at McMurdo.

nvubu 13th Jul 2019 10:18

You have the correct Pole

dook 13th Jul 2019 10:24

All I can find at the moment is Site D59, which doesn't tell much.

nvubu 13th Jul 2019 10:30

It isn't D59

You may be overlooking the obvious location

https://kndqeg.bn.files.1drv.com/y4m...&cropmode=none

dook 13th Jul 2019 10:39

Is that the South Pole ?

nvubu 13th Jul 2019 10:43

No it isn't the South Pole. - should have said AN obvious location rather than THE

dook 13th Jul 2019 11:13

I mentioned McMurdo before, so it isn't there, although to dumbo here that's an obvious one.

evansb 13th Jul 2019 11:45

Summit Camp, Greenland ?

dook 13th Jul 2019 12:34

Williams Field ?

nvubu 13th Jul 2019 13:08

Your post didn't mention McMurdo when I replied to it, but I see that it does now. I hadn't been back to re-read it before. :(

It is Williams Field at McMurdo - so dook has it.

The Red containers are called Plateau Station Vans and were used at Plateau Station between 1966 and 1969 - and were left there when the station was mothballed.

dook 14th Jul 2019 09:20

Good day all.

I expect the Bear to get this.

JENKINS 14th Jul 2019 09:29

The Empire struck back quite effectively, I gather, from a 'drome at Grigno?

Self loading bear 14th Jul 2019 13:08

I cut Sycamore some slack to figure it out in his own time and pace. But as being challenged directly I will pin it down to Harlem airport, western Chicago Illinois.

Not sure what you mean by that?

SLB

dook 14th Jul 2019 13:54

I had no idea what he meant either !

However, you have got Harlem and it's all yours.

Self loading bear 14th Jul 2019 14:23

Thanks Dook!
I studied shipbuilding in the real Haarlem.
In the same building as the bachelor school of aircraft building.
Now both long gone from Haarlem.

I hope to have interpreted Jenkins correctly?

dook 14th Jul 2019 14:50

If you are able to interpret Jenkins comment then your English is better than mine !!
