Is the mystery field in North America? The year appears to be 1930s.
|
It is North America and the date on the caption for the photograph states 1946.
|
How about what is now known as Dover AFB, Delaware?
|
Not Dover AFB, Delaware, Seacue. This one was further north above New York. It also had the same name as an English town though.
Mel |
Hang about, it isn't Manchester New Hampshire by any chance?
BSD. |
Not Manchester New Hampshire, just a little too far North.
|
English town? I suppose that leaves out Schenectady......
How about Newburg, NY, much changed. (Once Stewart AFB) Newburgh Village Lancashire from newburghlancs.co.uk |
Much further East and a bit North. This airfield now has also has a different name today. In a City near by they once had a tea party.
|
It "couldn't" be Bedford Airport / Hanscom AFB. I don't see MEW Hill, which was leveled many years after 1946. Much of the field is in Lincoln, Mass.
|
KPVD? Providence, RI?
|
It "couldn't" be Bedford Airport / Hanscom AFB. I don't see MEW Hill, which was leveled many years after 1946. Much of the field is in Lincoln, Mass. I apologise if I have caused confusion. Seacue has control. |
I "thought" I used Hanscom as a mystery airport some time ago. The picture at that time was taken in 1952 by me from a B-25. But I can't find it in the list, has my mind really failed?
Here is another VERY easy challenge. What airport? http://members.toast.net/rcarpen/where1112.jpg |
Here is a 1952 photo of Hanscom Field. I'm sure of the location, because that is where our plane was based and I took the picture.
http://members.toast.net/rcarpen/airp52a.jpg Another of Hanscom in 1952. Flipped ...... http://members.toast.net/rcarpen/airp52c.jpg |

Still a bit high on the glide path Hoskins.
|
The best match I can find is KFNL, Ft Collins - Loveland, CO.
|
Not Ft. Collins/Loveland, but the state is correct.
|
Next guess is Burlington, CO, KITR, but it seems too far out on the plains.
Edited even later: Is that Pike's Peak??? |
How about Steamboat Springs?
(Great name!) |
Steamboat Springs was going to be one of my guesses, but I don't see a suitable mountain ... but I'm often wrong.
seacue |
seacue, see pm.

|
Duckbutt is correct.:ok: Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Your turn.
|
