Good one :ok:!!

Was having doubts about the P as they all seemed to have cowls, but I could only find photos of the Playboy with open cockpit and then noticed it started life as closed!

Noyade 13th Jan 2012 21:39

Thanks Karlark. Not very "silhouetty", but here goes No.3...

Re-register?! What's going on?

SincoTC 14th Jan 2012 03:59

Afternoon Graeme,

I'll go with that mate seeing as it's topical (dunno WTF is going on at AQ though, an unnoticed cock-up I hope)

The caption to my source actually give it as the Douglass A-24 Banchee, but that just seems to be the Army name for the SBD Dauntless, so I think that both should noew go on Mel's list!

Noyade has control :ok:

Noyade 14th Jan 2012 05:56

Thanks mate. Should have looked at the site more carefully where I found your image. :( Very generous, thanks.

Next one...

Not been around of late....first chance to look in for a while. Looks Curtiss'ish, but not quite right. A US machine Graeme?

Noyade 15th Jan 2012 02:59

G'day Ken. :)

A US machine?
Yes mate. But not from Curtiss. Two-seat fighter...

SincoTC 15th Jan 2012 03:34

'Artnoon Graeme,

Is the Plan-view silhouette conceal a closed cockpit?

Welcome back Ken :ok:

Noyade 15th Jan 2012 06:43

closed cockpit
Yes mate. I think you're onto me. :)

Here is the cockpit detail....

skytrain10 15th Jan 2012 08:35

Evening Graeme...my other thought late last night was a Vought. Now I see the cockpit that also has similarities to Vought, but again nothing that quite matches. Time for a coffee and a closer look.
Edit...keep looking at the XF3U...close, but not close enough.:ugh:
Going to have to resort to Aerofiles....

skytrain10 15th Jan 2012 09:22

Douglas XFD-1?
My Midland Counties book US Designations and Serials came to the rescue:)

Noyade 15th Jan 2012 09:34

Douglas XFD-1
Sorry for the delay mate, your control! :)

XF3U...close, but not close enough
Just had a look at that - it does look very similar!

skytrain10 15th Jan 2012 09:45

Cheers Graeme...good challenge:ok: Just never thought of Douglas! Hope all is well?

Will have one ready shortly

skytrain10 15th Jan 2012 10:15

Noyade 15th Jan 2012 10:21

Kawasaki T-4?

skytrain10 15th Jan 2012 10:23

That was easy, yes the Kawasaki T-4 it is:ok:

Just thought it was a nice picture:)

Back to you.

Noyade 15th Jan 2012 10:28

Thanks Ken, but the silhouette cupboard is bare mate. Sorry. Open House. Put up another? Trevor? Anyone? Otherwise I'll start scrambling and look for one...
