Blimey!!! It really was built and flew? Or was it a model, Ken?
Edit: Twin-jet? High wing? T-tail? V/STOL? |
Blown wing?
|
Blimey!!! It really was built and flew? Or was it a model, Ken? Twin jet, high wing, T-tail, STOL. Not a blown wing (that I can see) David. |
I'm guessing there are few countries that have tried this kind of thing out so can we start thinning out the odds? Is it American?
Edit: planned as a military transport? Rear-loading door/ramp, perhaps? |
Is it an Antonov, by chance?
|
Not American or Russian Martin.
There were both civil and military applications, but development was stopped. It did have rear doors but no mention of a ramp. However I am sure that was a possibility. |
I'm guessing at Japanses mate but I really can't find anything other than a reference to a "japanese STOL research project"...... :(
edit: scrub that, I've been misled!! |
"japanese STOL research project". |
Such as China?? :)
|
Such as China?? |
That leaves few others I guess..... not Aussie 'cos it looks too sophisticated (;) Graeme), not Indian 'cos I thought I knew all their machines (maybe not) and so... Korea????????
|
None of those mate, although I guess you would get there by a process of elimination :). I should explain that the design is European. The company built and flew the one and only example in Asia, presumably to keep costs down.
|
OK... I have 30 minutes to go and then ... eject!!!!! So.......
German design? |
Good evening Ken and Martin.
Reading with interest since I left. Presumably the Asian country in question would have sophisticated aircraft production facilities, and in my mind that points to Taiwan. |
So maybe the AIDC XC-2?
Edit: er... no!!! Stupid me!!!!! |
Evening all :),
Apologies for absence, been a helluva week!! It's British (or was :() the AVCEN Jetpod, I guess the project died with it's inventor. AVCEN Jetpod - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |
Welcome back David...not Taiwan. This country is not really known for major aircraft projects, although interestingly this would not have been the first such venture whereby it has hosted production of a non-home grown machine.
The manufacturer is not German. |
Blimey! So it is!!! And ..... I'm off ..... bye eeeeeeeeee :)
Edit: A very nice challenge, Ken!!!!!!!!!!! |
