Thanks Graeme; Well that's what you called the image!

I don't think this one will hang around for long!

Oxygen "Blinker" gauge on the side panel to the top right of the main panel would indicate possibly an aircraft of late 1940s or early 1950s and perhaps a US training aircraft?

SincoTC 10th Apr 2011 09:47

Good morning Mel,

Not a trainer and it's later than that, but as the manufacturer did make training aircraft, perhaps they used something they had on the shelf!!

sycamore 10th Apr 2011 09:53

American, possibly an X-plane...c/s / tail no.41620 ?,,,single jet.

SincoTC 10th Apr 2011 10:05

Hi sycamore,

Yes, yes, yes and yes!

Well spotted, I considered taking that plate off the image, so my initial clue when I launched the challenge will probably hold true :ugh:

Noyade 10th Apr 2011 10:09

X-13......?

SincoTC 10th Apr 2011 10:15

Good evening Graeme,

Well, it certainly "hung" around for you mate! Hard luck sycamore, you were nearly there, you can have my :ugh: if you like!!

It is the Ryan X-13 Vertijet

Noyade has control :ok:

Noyade 10th Apr 2011 10:34

Thanks Trevor!

Got sidetracked, I thought the "Bunker Oxygen Flow Indicator" was something to do with rocket propulsion...:(:)

New...

I got called by `management` before I had time to look back at the `yoo-tube` videos ....!

Noyade 10th Apr 2011 11:10

Oxygen "Blinker" gauge
Ahhh....Blinker, not Bunker.

Sycamore, how can you tell from Trevor's photo it's a single engine jet? I need lessons on cockpit identification.

MReyn24050 11th Apr 2011 14:51

Experimental aircraft possibly?

evansb 11th Apr 2011 14:57

Bell X-14 ? Thanks Mel!

MReyn24050 11th Apr 2011 15:43

No problem Bri. I think it must have been a early panel during build.

Noyade 12th Apr 2011 00:57

Bell X-14
All yours Bri ! :ok:

According to the caption that accompanied my photo above it was a cockpit built for two but the limited thrust-to-weight ratio never allowed it.

Thank you. I've seen a photo of an X-14 sitting in a dusty corner of a museum. Speaking of museums, here is the next one:

sycamore 12th Apr 2011 10:59

I`ll start with European, twin piston, possibly another test aircraft...is the pink hue just sunlight or not ?

MReyn24050 12th Apr 2011 11:44

Complete stab in the dark based on the cockpit window layout. The Maerc Sarl H-OO.

Noyade 12th Apr 2011 12:03

Complete stab in the dark
Damn you're good Mel!

The colour, top dial layout, acute canopy angle and even the chopper tail...all seems to match...

MReyn24050 12th Apr 2011 12:47

You are too kind Greame, it was just luck trying to match the canopy structure from aircraft in museums.
The aircraft is also known as the Hirsch H-100. I have just found Brian's photo under Hirsch H-100. It is a very interesting aircraft as this other photograph shows.
