Which Aerodrome Mk II
The clue is in an "old saying" and a "play on words" or the perhaps I am being too "cute".
Guess I liked the D-Day clues contained in the Times crossword story too much..
Micronesia or the Phillipines - no.
Mainland Asia.
There is a Sea to the west.

Mel, a note of clarification for your list. Recommend Dillingham AAF/AFB and Mokuleia AAF both be added to the list as they are the same aerodrome.

The "Sea to the West" clue was most helpful, but the wooden bridge on LB02 was the closer. Here is the next challenge:
