oldpax.
Welcome to the Forum. Don’t think we have heard much from you in the past.
Thread etiquette dictates that whoever identifies an airfield has the privilege of posting the next picture or declaring open house when anyone can post a picture.
Your picture is interesting.
I’m sure that evansb, Bri, will not have a problem. He is a descent sort.
But got no idea where your pic is !!!!!!
Clint.

Dear oldpax, yes, rules dictate the person who correctly identifies the aerodrome has the option to post a challenge or declare an open house.
Welcome to the thread. I will let your challenge stand.

Well oldpax.
Looks like a very short runway. Very wide. Military I think ?? High ground about so not for long haul aircraft with such a short runway. Hurricane season ?
Far East ? Hong Kong area ??

If it has a 'Hurricane' season then it must be in the Western Hemisphere.

If it has a 'Hurricane' season then it must be in the Western Hemisphere.
According to the Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory, a “hurricane” and a “typhoon” are simply different names for a “tropical cyclone.” As a general rule, these cyclones are given the name “hurricane” in the Western hemisphere (the North Atlantic Ocean, the Northeast Pacific Ocean east of the dateline, or the South Pacific Ocean east of 160E), and the term “typhoon” is applied in the Eastern hemisphere (the Northwest Pacific Ocean west of the dateline).

Well done Evansb!!Easy clues I think!!The approach from the south is a bit hairy, the Cuban border is not far of and the 727 I was in flew at 90degs to the runway and did a very sharp 90 deg turn to starboard and touched down almost as we straightened up !!Most civilian flights are charters for the US Navy or were back in 1990,dont know what happens now.

Not Malaysia, but closer.
I was kept awake last night by the noise from all the head scratching going on. Here is another picture - not as dramatic, but a little clearer of the airport and town it serves.
By the way, construction has started on a replacement airport about 10 Km south that will handle international flights.
