Given the multiple train tracks, the vintage of the buildings and vehicles, the general appearance and your hints I'm going to guess Amon Carter Field (nee 'Midway') which is a portion the site of the current DFW and lies partway between Dallas and Ft Worth, Texas.

AKA Arlington Airport, Greater Fort Worth International Airport, and Greater Southwest International Airport.

India Four Two and StbdD, no.

Right then, this should give it away,

the aerodrome is in New York State.

No Des !!

The ironic thing is that the aerodrome name has already been mentioned but not in the correct location !!

I bet it's midway - but can't pinpoint it in NY ?
I will have another search - and see if someone else gets it in the meantime.

Des.

Ok, think you have it. It is, or rather was, Midway Airfield, Allegany, New York State.

Not a very good challenge as so little on offer. A quick Google search will bring up the picture and a little history.

As an aside, Chicago Municipal Airport was renamed Midway Airport in 1949, to commemorate the 1942 Battle of Midway, a turning point for the United States in World War II.

You have the helm.

Mr G.
I could not find 'midway' - out of curiosity I will try again with Allegany.
At one point I thought the sea battle clue was 'Waterloo' and was going to suggest Waterloo Airteck Airport in NY - but ... thanks for the handover
How about this one ?

No idea of where, but the vehicle is going the British way around the round-about. So, Commonwealth or Sweden? Looks very cold / some snow.
