re: Street Lady

Sorry people - my "contribution" was an addendum to a post from LM a while back, but this thread is so fast-moving that a reply gets greatly dissociated from what set it off . Apologies again and back to "lurking" as I'm nowhere in your league with knowledge of strange aeroplanes.

Hi evansb,

I think that's the Polikarpov Malyutka ?

If correct, then please declare Open House as coffee break's over and I'm back to work now.

Hi chazchaz,

Is it Polish; it looks very much like the SL-1 Akar ? Although the fins look slightly different on the drawing I found.

Thanks chazchaz,

Apparently it was the first glider designed by students of the Technical University in Warsaw, 1923. The name " Akar" was derived from the name of the designer Adam Karpinski. It was regarded as the first successful Polish Glider and won several competitions/broke records, it was rebuilt after damage in 1924, so that probably accounts for the detail differences.

Unfortunately, it'll have to an Open House, as my lunch break finishes in half an hour!

In LM's absence, I'll say it, WTFO !!!

Tubby little fuselage and blunt both ends, is it a jet or ducted fan? Piloted?
