He hasn't and I'm here without my link to my favourite french website! Bugger!

I wonder why he finds it interesting? There's something hidden in all that blackness!

Off thread/challenge for a moment if I may please.

I am about to "round robin" PMs about your views on a weekend get together.

I can't remember the whereabouts of HD or one11 though, so to save me the effort does anyone know.

Somebody would have to bring a laptop though - we couldn't stay off thread now, could we! (in between filling up glasses).

There's something hidden in all that blackness!
There always is trust me. Try a night intercept on an unknown aeroplane at 0300 and then to discover it's flying close to your buffet speed!

Watch out - Bernoulli is about.

Sorry David, I can't help.

The challenge - what do we have?
- biplane
- rectractable gear
- inline engine?
- small fin/rudder
- strange chimney-like exhaust indicating it is older than we may think?

No idea and fading fast! RR

I'm beginning to think its American...?

My intital thought was that its a seaplane, but there again I'm not so sure now.

Have to think about the cryptic clue.

Get together....one11 is up north somewhere I think. HD was online earlier...hopefully he will check in on the thread and let us know where he is.

Yes, I'm tempted by the thought of it being a yank too. A Curtiss, maybe?

Has the chimney got anything to do with its ability to land on water?

So that is a retractable float (pair of floats)?

It is German? A Fokker?

Breaking for dinner now....over to you RR. I'm intrigued that the question of country seems to be being ignored....should that tell us something?

I have it, I think: the Ursinus Seaplane from Germany, although the tail is not quite right.

Thanks Ton....yes, I'm sure it must be. A fascinating concept, particularly considering when it was built.

Good call on the D'Alessandris JT-SP yesterday...did you see mine/WK's comments?

Ken
