Hi David! Yes, I thought the same but I have been sifting through the scaled-down versions. No luck though. I can't think of any other seaplane that would have this config though. RR

Wild guess Nr 2 :

SHINMEIVA UF-SX scaled down PS-1/US-1 (ex Grumann Albatros)

It has two General Electric T 58 on top of the fuselage

It seems that it's not such a wild guess Richard!

I was just about to post this :かかみがはら航空宇宙博物館・屋内実機展示2

Graeme's photo is about half-way down the page!

The landing gear looks very Fokker, but now that we can see the complete aeroplane it's probably Eastern European.

I am thinking - given the fuselage lettering - that it is a Bulgarian DAR something. Cannot confirm. Looks a bit Storch and seen to recall that a DAR designer ended up with Feisler.

Agreed, but DAR was (is) an aviation company which had nothing to do with building aeroplanes.

DAR Aircraft (DAR Aeroplanes) is a Bulgarian aircraft manufacturer, founded in 1912 in Sofia - Boujuriste. Their first aircraft was the DAR-1 designed by Prof. Herman Winter in 1925. His other models are the DAR-2, DAR-3 and DAR-4, a trimotor aircraft. After leaving DAR, Herman Winter worked at Fieseler, where he designed the aerodynamic properties of the Fieseler Fi 156 Storch. Prof. Cvetan Lazarov replaced Herman Miller at DAR. DAR continued production with the DAR-5, DAR-6, DAR-7cc, DAR-8, DAR-9 and DAR-10A until 1944.
However, the photo does not seem to be one of the aircraft mentioned.

As far as I can see DAR made only biplanes and low wing monoplanes (apart from their modern ones).

I posted one recently.

I think the "DAR" on the fuselage is leading us along the wrong road.....

Morning Guys!

Only got a few minutes; so here's my tuppence worth. I agree that DAR is probably too easy a clue, despite it's Storch like appearance and the DAR Bulgarian connection.

Is that a "World" map on the door, if so, so could it be a "missionary" type plane operated by the "Daughters of the American Revolution"??

What a load of rubbish, I just had another look and I now think it's a window in the door!!

I've taken it into Photoshop and "played" with it, and it certainly looks like a window!

An early version of the Rubik R-18 Kanya? I think it is being used as a glider tug for which the R-18 was designed.

G'day Mel. Richard said on the previous page that it wasn't French?

OMG! Richard, what happens if you fracture a tib and fib or fall down a ravine or get bit by a rattler or savaged by a bear? That'd be terrible....we'd never find out what your challenge was!
