Ramp Tramp....well done, you have correctly identfied the term "Dart", but its not from Piasecki!
So for clarity, this aircraft is the "(name of designer) Dart".
And at risk of repeating myself, the designer spent many years at Sikorsky.
What else, well he developed the GS1 aerofoil, and also did some work for Curtiss.
I'm sure a quick look at Aerofiles will give the answer!

Thanks, but I'm surprised to see theres no connection with the S-57. Not only because of Sikorsky, but also the planform, even down to the underwing 'fins' of the S-57 would aqppear to be a direct lift from your design.
Still don't know what it is yet

LM, good detective work, you are correct, it is the Gluhareff Dart, designed by Michael Gluhareff. He was Chief Engineer at Sikorsky up until the 40's although he continued to have an input in numerous models. You will have no doubt seen reference to his name in Aerofiles and you can see how manySikorsky designs he was involved with.
HD, I note what you said but I have not found a reference to his involvement in the S-57. I stand corrected if you have something that indicates otherwise.
LM, over to you.

Thanks skytrain - methinks you are a steward behind a bar......
Absolutely tremendous shout
There are times when somebody designs an aeroplane where the expected performance is optimistic. Maybe this applies to this:

In the silhouette I was sure the plane was 'above me' perspective wise, so I actually thought that your picure, Graeme, was from a different angle for a short while. How odd
Skytrain, no, nothing at all on this 'gluesniff ' fellow, it was just the similarity that struck me.

Deviating back to Mr Gluhareff, I found this photo on the web of a balsa flying model of the Dart dating from 1939. I suspect this may be the "mock-up" that has been referred to in other sources.
Morning Graeme....we had the Tsybin RS before...I think thats a different spec to the RSR.
LM, just remember stewards who work in a bar have their uses!!
