I didn't say Loundy, but Loudy, and it is quite similar to the scetch in his patent petition, so it could be connected, I thought.

I'm not a bit wiser. And have brushed my teeth now.
G'night!

I am a bit confused here...not difficult I know.

Not Loudy - RR has correctly discovered that its purpose was to trial construction methods and materials
We are still talking about the experimental aircraft...there has never been any mention of construction methods/materials.

Interesting text behind the image about its' construction.....
Skytrain10 - this was the reference to construction, posted by LM. The bit about materials was added as a sort of clue...............

Apologies to RR/LM for the false attribution of research via photoshop

Are we all de-confused now ?

Found a photo of the SIMB (Bernard-Hubert) V.2 which is not the answer, but there are some similarities, hence my thought of a French connection.

G'day mate!

call it a high speed experimental
And finally, did it achieve a speed record of any kind?

Too many questions? lol

if you have a copy
I had a chance to buy one in a Melbourne bookshop in 1987 but at $60 (a lot back then), didn't. I regret that now!

No, its even debateable whether it flew in this exact form. Apparently two of the Lamblin "beer barrel/lobster pot" radiators were planned to be added but in final version of the design, which did fly, a slightly more elegant solution was found.

Hello Graeme...guess I was along the right lines with Bernard. Mind you have gone through all the Bernard models I can find, but not getting very far. Time to call it a day now so over to you to (hopefully) id it.

Night night

Is it the SIMB Bernard "Ferbois" (Type C ?)as presented at the 1922 Paris Salon?

I can't find any photos or drawings and have to get down to work in a few minutes, so Open House please if correct!

I just found an illustration on page 764 Flight, Dec 21 1922 and it calls it the S.I.M.B. Bernard Type C

A description I found which seems to fit the bill:

Aerodynamically the Bernard " Ferbois " is interesting in

being a cantilever monoplane with wings placed low

a la Junkers and an " inverted T " undercarriage consisting of a
single covered-in " leg " growing out of the fuselage and

carrying at its lower end a transverse member in which the
axle is housed. The machine is of extraordinarily clean
outline, and certainly appears to give hopes of justifying its
designer's hope of attaining a speed of 315 kms. (195 miles)
per hour. With a 300 h.p. Hispano engine the power
ioading is about 9 lbs./h.p., while the wing loading is about

15 lbs./sq. ft. A thick, high-lift wing section is used.

I was coming to say the SIMB Bernard Type C as illustrated in Flight but I'm sure Sinco is talking about the same plane as it is illustrated in the 1922 Paris Salon edition.

Ah, I see you found it

Good morning Skytrain
I disappear because my logging problems still persist....to get thru to you it's a miracle as I said earlier....therefore I suppose I have to be content whenever I can communicate with you like today (but I reckon tomorrow or this afternoon I'll be unable to log in).
In the meantime I use the forum as a.....cultural aid!
Greetings

Morning all.

I'm afraid 'twas me who caused the confusion yesterday, since I directed my post #6081 towards RR instead of one11.

I was trying to be devious, and this is as far as I got:

Beware scanners and Photoshop.
