LM, no probs, when I reread everything I kind of understood what happened. So, its Open House I believe (see SincoTC's last posting)...have you got something for us?

Me too.

At first I thought it was triple-engined, but looking again I think it's a twin with very long engine nacelles.

Noyade is now probably zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

SIMB ( or Bernard or Ferbois) C.1

Pictures as promised . Top at 1922 Paris Show. Bottom 10C.1 military version with added radiator.



The various names seem to result from Adolphe Bernard reorganising his business in 1922 and the new company was Societe Industrielle des Metaux et du Bois = SIMB (The Metal & Wood Industries Company). It became known as Ferbois ( literally Iron Wood)

The fin smells of Aussie CAC, but the fuselage doesn't.

Could this one develop into a "team effort" ?

you may well be right but I've still not got any idea at all! I would have suggested Italian but Carson has been on and would have got it, and then maybe French, but again he would have got it I'm sure. So Ozy it may be or even a brit! It looks military but I suspect it isn't... don't know why!!!! RR

American civil aircraft designed by Allan Lockheed, powered by engines with a swashbuckling name and arranged in an unusual position. And for those who have it, you'll find it in the reproduction Jane's 38'. If not, there's always Aerofiles...

I think it has to be the Alcor C6-1 with side mounted engines?

Good luck with your battles to log-in

Just a thought, maybe something worth trying if you haven't already!

When you log-in, make sure to tick the "Remenber me" checkbox before you submit your password etc. Then when you do manage to log-in successfully, instead of logging out when you leave, try just closing the browser with the "X" on the red button in the top RH corner, because if you've got "cookies" enabled on your computer, it will then automatically log you in whenever you come onto PPrune, this will avoid the need to confirm the password by matching the numbers and letters every time. The only disadvantage of this is that your "Green light" will not go out immediately you leave, as it does when you do log-out, but it will go out after a while! Some websites will allow you to log-out without clearing the cookies which seemes to defeat the object of "remember me, but without re-registering, I haven't found that option on PPrune yet (no doubt some smart ass will point me in the right direction if you can)!!

Skytrain; I'm pretty sure that I'd never have found it without Graeme's clues! Also, his overnight comments (and yours) helped me to track down the Ferbois this morning, teamwork or what I'm off home now, so when Graeme gives the nod, put up another good one!

Sinco, agreed re Graeme's clues (its safe to say I would still have been looking without at least one of them!). And the Bernard, happy to be of service...at least I managed to work out the manufacturer. When the going gets tough, time for a bit of teamwork!

Noyade....closing down for the night now, so if I'm correct rather than have everyone wait until morning, happy to go Open House.
