Thats what happens when you leave the thread for a few days. Open House to avoid delays in finding a replacement for the Simplex Arnoux.

I believe the "beer Barrel" is a Lambling radiator!

Hi HD.

Designed by Elysee Alfred Descamps, and built under license in Russia.

ANASAL = ANATRA SALMSON. An unusual radial engine in that it was water cooled, hence the radiator in front of the upper wing. Good call

HD has declared Open House.

Somebody shoot. RR? drawbarz?

Well that filled in the time while I was searching the archives. Sorry I misunderstood the "Beer Barrel" reference to be to the entire aircraft not just the radiator on which I concur with SincoTC. This one is not quite so bizarre except in the wheels area.....

Beer Barrel

Coffee time and a little more info on the radiator and correct my typo, it's Lamblin (no g) and they were known as the "Lobster Pot" type. Looks like a good challenge one11, but like HD, it's back to work for me now!

Judging by the scan it came from the same source as the Simplex? A racer?

A racer?
......not specifically built for racing or records so probably more accurate to call it a high speed experimental

Good evening RR.

No, I'm too old to show off.

Realising that your challenge is a scanned image, I took it into Photoshop.

Invert to black on white, play with brightness and contrast and then mirror the image horizontally.

This reveals the burn-through text the right way up, with the image mirrored. However, you sod, you've done too good a job eradicating the image name on the left-hand side, and even Photoshop can't sort that one.

I have lost Photoshop on my home computer due to Adobe not supporting Vista (the bastards)

If you like, I'll post the above result tomorrow from work.

Back to the drawing board......Bugger.....

It could be a Loudy design, but I can't find anything on the net. Going to bed now. Night all.

Not Loudy - RR has correctly discovered that its purpose was to trial construction methods and materials
