Not home-built, Ken. It was a serious entry for a production competition. RR

It may be just me and the fact that I just woke up from my nap, but I cannot reconcile this one with something I could believe would fly .

I'm nearly off home, Reg. The machine had a large vertical foil to compensate for no ailerions. The designer claimed it would improve air flow over the un-interuppted wing surface.

Note: 5 mins to go!

Was this built in response to the French government competition for a "medevac" aircraft in early 30s?

Now that you've found the manufacturer, here's the full (half-full?) story:

drill hall | flying club | elstree flying | 1959 | 0282 | Flight Archive

I second Reg's thought... looks like a winged sailing boat...

l'avion de grande vulgarisation
You could knock me over with a feather….

Good night.

Edit: So it should then be ARL 20 Squale because that was the entrant, but pedantries are not our strongest side… Nite.

Yep, methinks...

pedantries are not our strongest side
Well said!
...besides, there's not much difference between the two...
