No connection. Well... maybe a feeble one...
Anything to do with the engine?

Both engines did not reach production, they were both jet engines and there were planes (including the challenge) that were designed with those engines in mind that were held back because of the lack of said powerplants.

That should make it more manageable:

Do you mean it was twin-engined?

Was the engine German.

I meant both the German and the *an engine delayed the completion of German and *an airplanes.

Was the engine German
No, it was not: same nationality as the plane

Not Japanese.

Alternate history, you say... well, I think you're quite right. It could have changed many things.

Yes!

An aborted Russian jet project.
It could have changed history in the sense that had the Russian had their own jet engine they wouldn't have had to reverse-engineer British powerplants in order to come up with something.

Some features like the way the engine is mounted and the tailfin were similar in early Russian jets like the MiG-9, the Yak-15 and -17.

skytrain10 has control!

Well I was lucky then...
It would have been my third challenge in a row to be shot down in less than 15'...
