It did fly (107 times), but never vertically, oh and not a bomber!

Have to go for Saturday shopping now, else threatened with a vertical landing without appropriate capabilities.

See you later!

That sounds like it could be painful; you'd better go mate!

Seeing as there's nobody else about and I'm all done here, I'm heading for home now. I'll get back on line somehow in a while (beg, borrow or steal a connection) to monitor the challenge.

Good afternoon all...back home for a while now!

Must be the Beriev VVA-14? The silhouette creates the impression of it being much smaller than it actually is.

D*** it, I had it under my nose the whole time!!! All this time thinking "I must find something which has jet engines on top just like some Russian Ekranoplanes..."
Good job skytrain!

The silhouette creates the impression of it being much smaller than it actually is.
I totally agree...

Good evening Ken and welcome home!

I'm struggling with my connection at the moment, so may come and go!

The silhouette creates the impression of it being much smaller than it actually is
That's why I chose it, plus the angle hides the second fin !!

I was going to say that the "Red Baron" had a major hand in it as a clue!

It is the Bartini Beriev VVA-14 Vertikal`no-Vzletayuschaya Amphibia (vertical take-off amphibious aircraft)

skytrain10 has control

Thanks Sinco....definitely a well disguised challenge!

This aircraft is really a 100 tonne cargo aircraft! Only joking, honestly

Seems very quiet so some assistance....this is a production aircraft from the 1990's, designed primarily as a trainer.

Evening skytrain, and thanks for the clues.

Seems to me a Bharat Swati.

Edit: since I found the exact source of your photo I can tell that you did not blacken the gear completely... that's why it didn't make any sense to me: I thought the gray zone was a part of the shadow and it seemed as it were inclined backwards... tailstrikes here I come!

Plus, there are so many people with impressive skills on this thread that it's not so difficult to find good examples to follow in order to try to learn something...

Well done HappyPass .It is indeed the Bharat (BHEL) Swati from India. From what I can make out at least 40 were produced as trainers for the Indian DCA.

To be honest from the photo I couldn't really make out the gear that well. So I just used another photo from a book as a guide..

Your control HP.

Thanks skytrain!
This will probably last less than half an hour, but it was too good to pass up...
Sunday's naive challenge, a toy something!
