'Artnoon LM, Reg and Ken,

I hope the rest of your trip went well amd welcome back David

Off home soon and no time to play so far today. I was wondering if the other part to the US Navy question was the USAF. They did have the JPATS competition in the nineties. One wanted side-by-side, the other wanted Tandem and in the very end they settled on a tandem turboprop, but there were lots of runners and fallers along the way and spin-off programs followed in its wake!

Drinkin' nothin' (part of the problem).

There were 22 companies who expressed interest in participating in JPATS competition .

Afternoon

I was wondering if the other part to the US Navy question was the USAF. They did have the JPATS competition in the nineties.
Hit the nail on the head Sinco, yes this was to be a JPATS contender but the project was cancelled seemingly (from what I have read) before the tender process started because of a change of emphasis on the requirement.

The aircraft itself was a product of an international partnership, as well as support from a US manufacturer.

Not Korean RD

Not the Jet Squalus LM (that was built and flown) but you are very nearly there.

The ATTA 3000 ?

Preliminary design was made for Promavia by Gene Kerrigan, who worked previously at the advanced design group with Rockwell.

Promavia somehow managed to establish a partnership with Mikoyan Design Bureau and Boeing Defense Division to design a derivative of the Jet Squalus, the ATTA 3000.

I'm gonna have to ask for an Open House as I'm off now and have got a lot to do on the way and I'm not entirely certain that my internet at home will be workable as the engineers didn't fix it yesterday..

Stand by F5 LM

The ATTA 3000
Thats what I was looking for, its the Promavia ATTA-3000 (aka Mikoyan 815) which was to be a joint Mikoyan/Promavia offering through Boeing as a JPATS contender. When the emphasis was changed to low operating costs with sacrifice on performance, Boeing dropped its support, which in turn lead Promavia to go in to receivership. However Mikoyan went on to develop the MiG-AT which not uncoincidentally bears a lot of similarity to the ATTA.

Well done Sinco although I feel that LM had a hand to play in it coming up with the Promavia name.

SincoTC has control....correction OPEN HOUSE

LM, unfortunately for you its not....the Jet Squalus is a side-by-side 2 seat trainer:

Edit to say, as Sinco has declared OH, and LM came so close, I propose LM should take control

Thanks skytrain and sorry LM,

I had found a lead in Fright Archive and was looking again at Promavia, I had initially dismissed it 'coz I saw it flying at Farnborough!

as I added above:

I'm gonna have to ask for an Open House as I'm off now and have got a lot to do on the way and I'm not entirely certain that my internet at home will be workable as the engineers didn't fix it yesterday..
