Not Philippines. China.
I mis-read that as not China, so back to China.

Definately something screwy going on with the page change again. It keeps putting me back a page!!

Graeme's bound to find it in his book now!!

No mate, I'm less confident now. I thought it was a thing called the Fushing Biplane. See below...

I asked you a personal question at the top of this page, and then deleted the post. Would that cause a problem with "page turning" for some viewers?

Thanks for doing your stuff with Murray
Not a problem mate. He appears to be a really nice guy (Is he - you blokes would know better?).

I'm sure he will be the crowd favourite tomorrow!

I think that can do it mate, not to worry, it's sorted itself out now!

Reg, how about the SHAANXI AIRCRAFT COMPANY's (maybe AKA as the NAVAL AIR ESTABLISHMENT)
Chiang Gae'n two-seat reconnaissance biplane or advanced military trainer ??

Murray seems to be an Ace guy!! A Brit if he wins, but a Scot if he goes down

Last edited by SincoTC; 28th Jan 2011 at 22:29. Reason: Added AKA for company

Graeme I don't think it is the Fushing. The transliteration is too far away, the engine cowling is different, and there is no fairing behind the cockpit.

TC, I think you got close enough to it. In my source it is called Xuzhou (or Shuzhou) which is a town a bit west of Shanghai. And the manufacturer of several aircraft called Xuzhou Air Station may well be the NAVAL AIR ESTABLISHMENT that your Chiang Gae'n two-seat reconnaissance biplane or advanced military trainer comes from.

So, if others do not mind, I'll grant this one to you.

Xuzhou aircraft
Mate, have you got a link to this thing, for a closer inspection? Googling gets me nowhere....

Quite a few of the recent challenges I couldn't find on the net.
Not complaining, just interested.

I think you have all the voting shares, as TC has vested interest and I do not qualify .

So thank you gentlemen. I am calling it a day. Good night!

Edit to say that it is the same where I and LM found your Heinkel, so why should we give it to you for free .

Good night.

Thanks Reg and Graeme.

My source says that the Shaanxi Aircraft Co relocated to Shanghai in 1931 and I guess that Xuzhou (or Shuzhou) is close enough to Shanghai for confusion!

Good Challenge mate.

Sleep well

Now what can I find that won't be in Greame's Bly book

where I and LM found your Heinkel
See, now that's interesting. The aircraft was captioned "Heinkel He 55". Googled that and there were no images but there was a Wiki site devoted to the "Heinkel HD 55.

But after I made that post, I examined the Russian KR-1 name and the images flooded the monitor as per David's photo.

I guess that like a lot of things in life Googling is a skill.

I don't have that skill.

Yes mate, but it's not really all down to skill, it can be very frustrating and often a minor change in the query makes all the difference. Trouble is all the search engines seem to have their own little foibles and you need to keep track of them.

IMO goggle is nowhere near as good as it used to be; it no longer offers "Search within results", which had degraded to being totally useless and there are far too many commercial sites that hijack your query and appear to offer just what you asked for, only to be presented with list of sales offers and commercial links. Quite a few of my old "good" aircraft favourites have been similarly hijcked and now do the same

It's just after midnight now and I have work tomorrow so I'm turning in soon.

Have a good day mate and keep rooting for Andy!

Edited to say

Sorry mate, not Australian, but not a million miles away!! Well even the Moon isn't is it
