If, in fact, there is an "Open House" situation, I propose the following challenge. If I'm out of order, I'll remove this challenge.

Not St Lucia, not St Kitts. This isn't a place for large planes.

Yes, the Union Island airport UNI at Clifton.

St Thomas is served by B-757 among others. UNI is more a Twotter airport.

Stone Town has control.

It was a RAF base. It is still a military base today. Not PNG

evansb' challenge

StbdD is spot on Well done RAF Trincomalee, Ceylon, now China Bay, Sri Lanka.
Bombed by the Japanese during WW.II, also used by the USAAF to launch B-29s to Sumatra, round-trip. Presently serves as a major base for the Sir Lankan Air Force. You have control.

Thanks evansb! I found it amazing how little the layout changed over the years.

Here's the next challenge:

And no, it isn't an aircraft carrier.

StbdD's challenge

Confirms a first thought, this could well be a Pacific Island?

It is indeed an island in the Pacific. Construction commenced on it in 1942.

StbdD's challenge

Thanks for that, no was it built by the US Forces or the Japanese? Well the Japanese I believe had the upper hand at that time so I will plump for somewhere in the Marshall Islands.
