Australian pilots can work for US regionals.
I think it is generally the minority, but we have definitely had Australians over here who have acted in ways that have directly affected the hiring policies of airlines. We also get the occasional Austranaut coming in from an expat job, or the ones that forget that you can't just drop c-bombs whenever you like anymore, especially while in uniform or infront of passengers. Or going for jobs and getting all the way through the hiring process without disclosing that they need an E3. These are the minority but there are for sure those out there who are hell bent on embarrassing all of us.

Commutair will hire Australians with ATP mins on an E3 visa. Once you pass Capt upgrade training they will sponsor your green card. Getting the 1000 hours of US 121 time to upgrade will take a while as the training dept had a huge backlog of FOs.

A close friend just interviewed with National. Can confirm they are only taking people with previous narrow body or wide body jet command due to the 'austronaut d**head' factor.....
Completely inaccurate regarding "jet command". Have a very good friend starting shortly with no jet command at all. Solely RHS 737 time.

I have to remind all that United will be retiring 200 50 seat jets in the next two years. Gojet will likely retain all Crj 550’s. Commutair, Air Wisconsin, and Skywest will be the victims but it has yet to be determined who will bear the brunt. The hope is aviate will be able to absorb the pilots while at the same time encourage pilots to fill the need to staff commutair and air Wisconsin in the short term.

Cracking open that old "degree" chestnut again -
I know there's a lot of guys over on E-3's right now that don't have neither a degree nor 12 years experience. Based on what I'm reading I'm getting that's kind of a thing where the consulate just rubber stamps the applications rather than combing through all the bits and bobs.
Looking at the my visa jobs site there seem to be a number of applications, especially in the early Skywest days which were denied. Does anyone know of anyone, or a friend of a friend etc, who has actually been denied an E-3, and if this was for the degree or another issue?

Visa’s are denied regularly for a lot of things such as criminal history (even if expunged), previously overstayed their ESTA, as just a few of many examples that could cause denial.
I wouldn’t read too much into the previous denials as applicants as of right now are still getting E3’s without a degree.
