Australian pilots can work for US regionals.
Anyone had recent direct contact with GoJet Airlines revealing their current E3 hiring status (if any) ? This ad was on the AFAP jobs list about a year and a half back:

Got a bite from Piedmont. Does anyone know if there is any possibility of a commuting type of roster? ie take the min. guaranteed days-off consecutively, back-to-back combined with the annual leave to give enough time to commute to Australia? Yes I know I may be dreaming...
As a new hire with minimal seniority you will not be able to consistently produce the schedule you describe. Maybe one in a while ? Perhaps but it'd be an accident.

The best thing anyone could ever do for themselves is not commute though. You'll probably strip several years off your life expectancy doing it from Australia.
Does anyone know if the new 121 rules that Australian Airlines are transitioning to, are the same as or similar to the 121 rules that US airlines operate under? In particular, will 1000hrs under an Australian Airline operating under part 121 be credited towards the 1000hrs the US Airlines require for a Direct Entry command?
