Do the numbers matter?

Q is in a very deep hole and most employees would be open to embrace constructive change that would save the business from losing 1 bill this year and thus jeopardising the jobs of all employees.

If all pilots took a 30% pay cut overnight, it would save a wad of dollars but would it save the terminal decline of the airline under the current strategy? I'm confident it would not.

Big picture stuff, specifically pilots wages are not the crux of the problem here.

Again, do the numbers matter?

QF A330 pay
Are you guys denying the following?

A330 rate is around $271/hour.
Divisor is 160 hours per bid period
6.5 bid periods per year.
Do the math, not incl allowances and super.
290k is about right isn't it?
FBN is back under a different name, another to the ignore list.

Agent Provocateur

I agree with FYSTIs post (#781) that FBN is an agent provocateur and almost certainly being provided with information on what to post from within Qantas (conceivably from Worth’s propaganda team) and/or from Oldmeadow’s IR team. The Consistent spreading of false, exaggerated and misleading information without any attempt to justify it is standard propaganda practice and used widely in business and politics.

FBN does not need to justify his (I am assuming here that FBN is a male) claims; he has no intention of doing so, it is not in his brief and all he has to do is just keep pushing out the same lines over and over again. All he has to do to influence the opinions of some people, especially those with no direct connection with Qantas pilots, is to keep repeating the exaggerations, the half-truths and the lies being fed to him by others.

FBNs posts have all the hallmarks of an orchestrated campaign to undermine the perception of Qantas pilots. Of course, FBN makes no mention of the appalling Qantas executive management and Board and their lack of rational business decision making over the past 5 to 10 years. I don’t see FBN and his like just as Trolls, more the agent for those whose own business management failings has led Qantas to where it is today.

I wouldn't be surprised if FBN was the same individual who provided info to the media, that Long Haul pilots wanted massages and facials preflight as part of their claims in the last EBA.

Danger

Geez, I hope FBN isn't an agent provocateur. I'd hate to think Qantas was wasting time, effort, energy and more importantly, $$$$, paying someone who's job is to go onto PPRuNe and pick fights with pilots using made up numbers.

Desperate times call for desperate measures Keg.

Unfortunately this current QF management are desperate.

But at least we have a new lounge in LAX so things are definitely turning the corner, Good work fellas!

Now if only we could get some aircraft for our punters to fly on to get to these lovely new lounges.

Occam's Razor

If the choice is between a dumb f*ckwit and a Great Industrial Conspiracy, the Razor tells us to go with the dumb f*ckwit option everytime.

Opposing viewpoints are good for debate and should be welcomed. Mindless drivel is a waste of everyone's time. IMHO the mods should have sorted the problem long ago. Given they refuse to act, lack of oxygen will solve the problem but too many can't resist the bait. An interesting thread ruined.

Agent provocateur? I think it's more likely just the 'green eyed monster' talking.

Although I do not agree with most of what he said, I did give him the benefit of the doubt and an opportunity to express his opinion for a long time. Sadly two half truths never make a whole truth and the only thing we see eye to eye on is his last post :

It is interesting that you guys really have such an aggressive and hostile approach people who simply have a different opinion on something, in this case the economics of a business.

I just think it is a very odd thing to do to assume that because someone who holds a different opinion you assume they are jealous of your occupation, whether you be a nurse , a dog catcher , a IT professional , or a skilled machinery operator such as grader driver.

There are a lot of people who are calling themselves airline pilots, and claiming that they are in fact Qantas pilots.

Frankly I seriously doubt that most of the people here calling themselves Qantas pilots are in fact so.

There was tonight 9 ADL A320 CMD's advertised via FSO. It stated it will be open also via the MOU. The next MOU numbers have more than 9 F/O's above them, however, for various reasons these F/O's have not taken recent CMD opportunities at various bases. So assuming that non of these F/O's are interested in relocating to ADL, within the next 9 MOU numbers there are 3 F/O's who could potentially be amongst the bidders which would still give a minimum of 6 CMD's to Qantas pilots. If non of the mentioned F/O's bid for ADL then the whole 9 should go to Q numbers. I would assume considering there are 15 QF 737 CMD's also for ADL that would most likely go to displaced 767 CPTs, the 9 MOU spots will be heavily bid for over at QF. Beware that the current EBA line CPT pay for 75 hrs/month is at $163K frozen due to a group wide pay freeze. Good luck.
BTW, the 12 in 14 going back to QF is grossly inaccurate. It's probably the other way around at the moment. Very few have indicated their return with a good number resigning from QF over the last two weeks to stay at JQ

What a dilemma . QF is still the best bet , if QF group goes broke then JQ is history as well. An F/o position in QF is a far superior job if you can hold it.
Not much direction from AIPA , did they organise for the S/Os to get some right hand seat time before casting them out.
Did the good ole boys offer to at least go part time to save jobs ?
AIPA will die with the QF restructure the future is with the young guys who will hopefully start a new union after the storm passes.

"I would assume considering there are 15 QF 737 CMD's also for ADL that would most likely go to displaced 767 CPTs"

Not correct, some may BID for them but 767 pilots cannot displace directly onto the 73.

"Beware that the current EBA line CPT pay for 75 hrs/month is at $163K frozen due to a group wide pay freeze."

Not for long, pay freeze is propaganda only. QF Group IR are negotiating their way around it. Joyce the knob pulled the rug out from under Sue Bussell with that one. QF industrial knew nothing about that little announcement.

"BTW, the 12 in 14 going back to QF is grossly inaccurate. It's probably the other way around at the moment. Very few have indicated their return with a good number resigning from QF over the last two weeks to stay at JQ"

BTW this is also not correct.

If these ADL 320 slots are available to MOU pilots, why were the MEL 787 slots not available under the MOU??

Team JQ hosties have this week been offered 3% plus sign on bonus. Qf SH negotiations are going in the same direction. AFAP + AIPA JQ negotiators will
be aware of this. But the "when" will depend on how obstructive JQ and QF are with the negotiation process.

The pay freeze was just another bit of unmanageable spin for political reasons from an executive management team out of ideas.

Beer Baron

Not the way it works. MOU is only open at the discretion of JQ, or whoever is pulling that string at Qantas.
