Our Airline...What are they upto?
BB - you haven't explained what it was you were trying to say, or maybe you can't?
W/less has queried/commented on a couple of your statments, interesting how you ignore that. Is it possibly because they refute your original assertion?

BB & Down and 3gs the posters name is WITWIW so why the pathetic name calling ? Surely you can get your points across without having to denegrate the poster. You remind me of a BooB, yes I think so!
What is your point re ticket sales. Internet bookings are great , cash in bank straight away ,no waiting for payment, easier to police defaults for no shows etc.

A little OT but Skystar, if I remember correctly, Sollies had to pay for the Spanish 737 a minimum of 200hrs/mth.
Hence why they ran it every day and thus wanted the frequency to stay the same when that deal died (because they couldn't pay)- then got into the SAW deal and it all went down the drain pretty quickly from there on.
Having flown the BNE/HIR route a fair bit in the past, most of the people I've spoken to do seem to prefer the service that OA provides over the rest.
For such a quiet little (and apparently successful) operator, there is a fair bit of discussion going on!!!!

Thanks MyNameIsIs appreciated. It further points out that the quoted US$7,500 or AUD$9,000 is absurd figure if they are going to operate it for 200hrs a month.
BB, why are you going to such immature levels of name calling? There is a disturbing trend to your posts

Not knowing much about actual charter/lease rates, couldn't agree or disagree on what has been said here or whether or not they are absurd.
However, if the Strategic deal goes ahead, maybe Sollies have learnt something and they are not going to pay for such a high amount. But then again, maybe (most likely) they havn't learnt!!!
Why they don't run with OA is beyond me... but Pacific logic is something completely different!

Sorry my basic mistake US$7,500 an hour [approx AUD$9k according to BlackBandit]
Still, US$7,500 is pathetic if they can charge that an hour for a basic ACMI, or WET lease then there is certainly money to be made in the industry agmost everyone's belief

Skystar if you think that price is excessive then you obviously don't appreciate the costs involved in operating a $40,000,000 plus aircraft. The interest and principal on the loan,Staff costs (Pilots, cabin crew, engineering, traffic, administration, ground handling, flight ops, accounting, management, sales etc.),government charges,ATC,catering.insurance, fuel, maintenance costs, maintenance reserves, training, checking and many more. I would think an operator would be lucky to clear $1000 per hour which would equate to less than $2,400,000 per year for 200 hours per month which has to cover unforseen costs, aircraft replacement, return on investment and dividends to name a few. All this depending on your bills actually being paid! Not everyone is lucky to get a fat government contract paying more than it should because governments can waste our money with no recourse. Also before you say a $10,000,000 aircraft would be cheaper you are wrong as 10 million amortised over 10 years is no different to 40 million amortised over 40 years and the older aircraft usually result in higher fuel and maintenance costs.

Thanks, Feenix, for trying to straighten out some on name calling. To BB honest, though, such childish antics by this nong do not worry me in the slightest - it wasn't even clever.
There's little doubt that Sollies have entered another unworkable arrangement - at least they are consistent in that regard. It might struggle on for 6, maybe 12 or even 18 months but in the end it will all end in tears, have no doubt. IE are past masters at it, history is the proof.
Incidentally, had a discussion today with a friend who's been well briefed on A320 charter rates (closely associated with a charter broker for those who want to know if my source is credible). You are very warm with your guesstimate.
