Skystar if you think that price is excessive then you obviously don't appreciate the costs involved in operating a $40,000,000 plus aircraft. The interest and principal on the loan,Staff costs (Pilots, cabin crew, engineering, traffic, administration, ground handling, flight ops, accounting, management, sales etc.),government charges,ATC,catering.insurance, fuel, maintenance costs, maintenance reserves, training, checking and many more. I would think an operator would be lucky to clear $1000 per hour which would equate to less than $2,400,000 per year for 200 hours per month which has to cover unforseen costs, aircraft replacement, return on investment and dividends to name a few. All this depending on your bills actually being paid! Not everyone is lucky to get a fat government contract paying more than it should because governments can waste our money with no recourse. Also before you say a $10,000,000 aircraft would be cheaper you are wrong as 10 million amortised over 10 years is no different to 40 million amortised over 40 years and the older aircraft usually result in higher fuel and maintenance costs.
