Very surprised to see them go yet I must say, the fares were nowhere near the premier routes from BLK.

I remember posting this on the 20th August 2009:- permalink Jet2 Website has launched its summer schedule for 2010 with flights direct from Blackpool Airport to Europe’s hot spots from just £19.99 one way including taxes.

EDIT: Although Mahon is still in the BLK drop down list on the jet2 website, you can't book for the summer of 2010. When you try and book July returning August 2010, this is the message,

Ernest,
The point I was trying to make is the Jet2 website categorically stated on the 20th August 'New Summer 2010 Routes announced' relative to Blackpool Airport. I see no new routes. |

If I may digress..
Going to anyway.. The Glideslope has been u/s for several weeks now, necessitating LLZ/only approaches. Another cost-saving measure..?? Hope Not.....!!!!:E:E S |
Reading on Jet 2 thread , theres more new routes for Man and Newcastle,Blk seems to being left out big time this year, or at least until the very last, anybody think this might be payback for the ADF? It doesnt seem to have affected pax numbers that much but maybe most people had booked before it was introduced and complained to Jet2 that they werent happy about it , who knows, would seem there needs to be some rethinks down there, or maybe it's just part of the bigger picture, if you were to be that sceptical:=

Ryanair, easyJet and FlyBE are yet to release their full summer timetables yet we are pondering over what is happening at BLK!
If they are to put in extra frequencies or routes etc. then it will be done over the coming months up until Christmas - they don't release all routes at once. |

Maybe, just maybe, because Ryanair, Easyjet and Flybe don't operate from Blackpool. |
MUFC fan
Sorry but was not intending to be cocky, just my sense of humour.
It is obvious that I have read your post differently to what you intended and I assure you that I read posts thoroughly. Perhaps you could explain what you meant by Ryanair, easyJet and FlyBE are yet to release their full summer timetables yet we are pondering over what is happening at BLK! |

I know there is speculation at the moment, but that is fueled by routes disappearing from sale or from the drop down menu.

I have traveled twice since the beginning of the ADF and not heard one grumble, from where I live the ADF is popular as I guess it will be from anywhere more than 5 miles away, and the free parking more than compensates for the smallish fee a tenner. Fact is the ADF amongst the punters is a none event, look next time you travel from BLK for yourself, no glum faces at all. So why would Jet2 bother, in fact they advertise the free parking from BLK, so I think that answers your question. |

Well spotted dada: I expected as much after Jet2 got the window they probably wanted at MAN.
However is this to be believed.

It could be that soon they will announce new routes, as there will still be two a/c based at BLK. It would not have made sense to axe IBIZA and MAHON without replacing with a new route being the a/c are still at BLK. It is getting harder to remain optimistic though. Long term who knows with Jet2 with both feet under the table at MAN. |
But some good news.....

Well better than nothing, but Jersey is not the same as Ibiza or Menorca - or the 3rd aircraft promised for expansion at BLK.

Jet 2 timetable shows 2 weekly flights as opposed to the press release saying there is just one

I’m pleased to see further Jet2 expansion to the island and flights to Blackpool, which were bound to return at some point. Whilst it may not be a Mediterranean destination, there is certainly tourist demand from North West England for flights to Jersey and the potential for inbound tourism to Blackpool. The airline’s routes to Jersey from Leeds/Bradford and Belfast have operated successfully this summer, and I am confident that Blackpool will operate similarly next summer.

Mondays and Fridays BLK-JER-BLK
...rather misses the point since the bulk of summer season passengers normally want to travel to JER on a Saturday! |
May prove a popular weekend destination.
