Well the Titan would surely stay at STN as that is where the Titan base is, it is needed there with it's QC capabilities. (Why would BLK need a QC?).

The QC's in the summer are needed at NCL (2), EDI (3), STN (1), 6 in total(CELA/O/P/R/Y/Z + ZAPZ/POWC) this means that there must be one more new mail route to come then (one at NCL-EMA and one at ?).

If BLK were due a 752 I can see them getting a Futura 734, BFS is one base for one of them I understand.

jet2_at_blk 1st March 2007 21:01

Can see where the Titan aircraft will be based now.

Would love to see a 734 at BLK during the summer. Would probably suit the routes better than a 752. Can the 734 operate on a full load to Europe?

jet2impress 1st March 2007 21:45

The 734's are going to BFS and MAN. The Titan 733 is going to EDI or NCL. As far as I know, its just company 733's in BLK this summer and no 752.

news

Only thing I herd was that the J31 operators have thought twice about takin on J2 to Belfast :ouch: and have deferd their start til the summer/never:uhoh: . Common sensce has prvayled?:ok:

jet2_at_blk 2nd March 2007 16:07

If this new airline can offer services to BHD at great business times, and at Manx2 prices, then you ever know!

Would have thought a route to GLA or EDI would suit better, as there is not competition, but anyway...:hmm:

Quite a silly idea to take on a big Loco with a twice daily frequency.

Can anybody tell me why BFS can pump out multiple frequencies per day to destinations throughout the UK:

LPL - 7
GLA - 8
EDI - 8
MAN - 15
LON - 29
BXM - 10
IOM - 7

Includes both BFS and BHD

Add to this other smaller connections such as BRS and LBA, you can understand the frequencies. Where do all thse passengers come from?

IB4138 2nd March 2007 18:43

Errr....The Irish Sea.

Not everyone likes travelling by ferry, be it high speed or roro and there are no competing rail services. :ooh:

jet2_at_blk 2nd March 2007 18:57

I completely understand that flying by air is the most popular mode of transport across the Irish sea, but how can there be such a demand?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Anyway, another two 733s will be arriving in 3 weeks on tomorrow evening. Any idea where they are coming from or which reg they are going to be?

I still can't work out how three 733s can fit into a Sunday schedule! Time will tell!

WATABENCH 3rd March 2007 10:21

Anybody know if there is an airline looking at a BRS route at all? I have a friend who now lives up Blackpool way and is fed up of train journeys and car journeys?

cumbrianboy 3rd March 2007 10:58

The sunday schedule works fine with 3 aircraft???

Aircraft 1:
0615 MJV 1235 1400 PRG 1900 1930 AMS 2230

Aircraft 2:
0850 ALC 1500 1600 BFS 1800 1830 PMI 0015

Aircraft 3:
0900 FAO 1530 1630 AGP 2310

jet2_at_blk 4th March 2007 20:54

Just some statistics from BLK. Difference between Dec 05 and Dec 06. Enjoy!

BLK - DUB___ 06=6,599___05=7,218___-9%
BLK - AMS ___06=2,165___05=0,000___+100%
BLK - FAO ___06=1,489___05=0,000___+100%
BLK - ALC ___06= 2,755___05=1,791___+54%*
BLK - GRO ___06=3, 549___05=6,208___-43%^
BLK - AGP ___06=0,000___05=4,474___-100%'
BLK - TFS ___06=2,712___05=1,351___+101%
(Better load factor than LPL)
BLK - PRG ___06= 2,929___05=242___+1,131%
BLK - STN ___06=8,470___05=10,227___-17%
BLK - BFS ___06=3,497___05=2,318___+51%
BLK - BHD ___06=144___05=351___-59%
BLK - IOM ___06=1,622___05=1,017___+59%

Total pax___06=35,931___05=35,197

I can see that the passenger numbers have dropped on all of the FR routes. The GRO route has obviously dropped because of the frquency drop. STN still fighting against the trains, and DUB can be losing to the Seacat, surely?!;)
LS are really bringing out the flavours in BLK! The TFS route was performing fantastically with an average of 77% load for the month (169 pax per flight!)
Manx2 have also really freshened up the BLK-IOM route!
This can only look good for S07!

*Breakdown:
TOM=929 (06) compared to 1,791 (05). LS carried double TOM on the route during December, having two weekly flights, compared to TOM's one. Shows that loads are about equal.
^Reduction in frequency between 05 and 06 from daily to 4 times weekly. Return to daily later this month.
'Cancellation of ZB's daily AGP flight, but will return later this month with LS five-times weekly.

*NOTE* All routes include passengers both departing to and arriving from in the month of December in both 2006 and 2005 respectively.

Aberdeen

Any more news of BLK aberdeen:confused: . Has anyone perswaded Jetstream Expensive to look at this insted of BHD - which sensibley seams to have gone a bit quiet - :hmm: :hmm:

jet2impress 7th March 2007 10:19

Is a load factor of 77% good? Suppose it depends what the yield generate was I guess.

Aberdeen

Fred:

Their Jetstreams have been in ABZ a couple of times recently, but don't know if they have been up "having a look" or just positioning up to operate charters, as Highland Airways who also have JS31s have been operating charters from here & I think maybe Jetstream Exec have been sub-chartered by Highland on a couple of occasions.

nav3 8th March 2007 16:04

I would welcome a route into Scotland from Blackpool as the road and rail links are awfully time consuming and expensive. Aberdeen and Edinburgh float my boat as a businessman.

dancav 9th March 2007 01:44

If you are listening Ryanair, my wishlist would be RIX and SUF from BLK!! :E
Lamezia would make sense for the amount of Southern Italians in the NW and the fact that Thomson are going to Calabria for there second season from Manchester. How about 2/3 times weekly MOL to start off with?!
Riga load factors high now from Liverpool and Baltic population increasing in the NW and N.I.. Could make a two centre stag party, not! := :oh:
Trying Athens through Prague with Jet2 & Skyeurope in May. You can fly through to Athens with ample connecting time in Prague on outbound and return on Thursdays and Sundays. £135 including seat reservations on Skyeurope.
If only someone flew Blackpool - Athens direct... ;) :)
Surely all the greek students (including in Preston at UCLAN) and chippy owners and other greeks prefer to fly low cost from Blackpool instead of flying at silly price with Olympic from Manchester?! :D :O
Nice to see Lancashire number one airport doing so well, keep it up! :ok:
Not been to the new terminal yet, whats it like compared to 5 years ago??

jet2_at_blk 11th March 2007 19:48

Now that the summer routes won't seem to change, we can start speculation of Winter 07/08!:D

I would like to give my two cents, and I hope many more people will too.

Personally I think that:

LS will:
AMS (daily), ALC (x4), BFS (x2 daily), Faro (x3), AGP (x4), PRG (x4), TFS (x3).
New routes: Could be GVA (x3) or Chambery (x3)?

FR will:
STN (x2 daily), GRO (daily), DUB (daily)
New routes: Could be BGY (x4) or Hahn (x3)?

Manx2 will:
IOM (x5 daily)

New airlines?:
EZY - Could be MAD (x4) or Berlin (x3)?
W6 - Gdansk (x3) or Katowice (x3)?
4U - Cologne (x3)?

There are many different views about the future of BLK, I just hope you will share them with us!

Cheers.
