These two rotations fit in well to the schedule and take up the remaining space on a MOnday and Friday, however - there is still some substancial space on other days.

Jet2 seem to be pulling up fort as it would and their finance department are very quick at deciding what will work and what will not - ALC going from daily to 4 times weekly over the course of 3 years etc. They will have seen that the three rotations will not have made enough money and it can be more lucrative elsewhere.

If you notice the starting fares for the JER flights are very similar to the IBZ and MAH yet it will cost much less to operate - look at BFS - loads are often appauling yet the revenue is good!

I think we will see one more for the summer - possibly somewhere further afield which is currently untouched by the Irish! ;)

After the last examples of 'adults' I took to Ibiza, I'm pleased to be dropping that route.

Lets just say I would not have liked to bring my Cessna 150 through those winds. Another excellent service both there and back.

now, about them jer flts - dont wish to be seen as a doom and gloom monger, but personally i dont think they'll be back for 2011. there has historically only ever been 1 or 2 flts a week, and in more recent years (well since the 1980's anyway0, its always been a charter on a sunday. the biggest a/c i can remember operating the root was a manx viscount. now jer aint your scum in the sun destination - its a classy place and pricey too. 149 seats 2x week i think is too much, but happy to be wrong.

We all need to understand what the LCCs companies are all about, long gone are the week long or two week holidays in the sun, what the LCCs are all about are short breaks??
Are Jet2 going to compete with the likes of Easy doing the Liverpool-Jersey? Easy are keeping this route going although they are cutting back at other places.
What Jersey might offer are short breaks with a good selection of resterauntes and bars, could this be the area Jet2 are looking at?
From what i understand the LCCs look at a three or four night stay, so two flights a week might well fit in??

dada - You are right. But BLK is probably suited to this route because of the number of wealthy retired people in Lancashire who would rather go on a break or longer to Jersey, than a jag to the Med.

MM I agree with your sentiments, I experienced an excellent flight and landing from Alicante in August in the winds.

Although well off topic on the BLK thread. I think horatio_b is referring to the excellent railway link between Blackpool and Manchester that takes you direct to the airport, also stopping at various locations in Lancashre and Greater Manchester such as Preston, Chorley and Bolton.

Never even been to Liverpool airport, but I am told it's not as easy to get to as BLK or MAN from Central Lancashire.

Well if you can get to Liverpool Lime Street, Warrington or Manchester by train then you are just one change away from Liverpool South Parkway station and then its a 6 to 8 minute shuttle bus ride to Liverpool Airport.

Just woke up to get that nice little e-mail from jet2.com confirming that there's no Blackpool - Ibiza route next year.
So off I go now to book MAN-IBZ with Thomsonfly. Kinda a lose-lose situation for Blackpool airport and Jet2. Saves me that ruddy tenner, though.

As for Liverpool mentioned above, it IS difficult to get to by rail, although there is the regular Terrorvision coach from Manchester. In the past I have railed it to Liverpool Lime Street, waited half-an-hour for a bus, and then sat on it for 45 minutes as it wandered roughly in the direction of Speake.

If I were in charge of Liverpool, and had any money, I'd have a dedicated tram service from the nearest station!

Anyway, next week its MAN-IBZ, and looking forward to visiting the all-new-singing and dancing Terminal 1. Although, personally, I'd rather be sitting for half-an-hour in Blackpools cosy departures lounge. Pity the cost of getting in that that is nearly two-thirds the cost of the Bollin VIP suite at Mancy!!

howard h. Unfortunately you are correct about the comparatively poor rail connections from BLK to LPL airport. However, you did not take the quickest route.

If you use LPL again, then the options are from Lime Street:

500 express Route - every 30 mins, takes about 25/30 mins direct to airport.

Rail from Lime st - All Trains to Birmingham and some to Crewe and Manchester stop at Liverpool South Parkway (Several trains per hour), where you can catch a dedicated bus to the airport. Total time for train/bus around 20/25 mins. (If you can get a lift to Southport you can also get direct trains from there (every 20 mins) straight through to Liverpool South Parkway.

Alternative rail routes/express route 700 connections are available via Warrington.

It appears that you got on one of the many local stopping buses instead. Perhaps a lack of advertising is the problem.

As for a tram route, there is one proposed from central liverpool via liverpool south parkway to the airport, however the Government transferred all the money from this scheme to fund the extension to Manchesters tram system (this is a common theme). Therefore unless totally privately funded it is unlikely to go ahead. Unless of course they can borrow some from BLK!

Hope the mods will remove the last two posts, which are blaitent publicity for Liverpool Airport with yet again a comment knocking Manchester Airport ( this time not on the MAN thread).

IB, please keep you hair on. Yes, its thread creep, for which I apologise, but I was responding to comments made earlier about transportation problems to LPL from BLK when direct flights are not available. I travel to many airports in the UK and I am aware of the ground transportation issues at many of them.

My comments were:

a) factually accurate

b) not advertising anything

c) not knocking manchester airport. its not even mentioned or inferred.

d) appropriate in the circumstances.

I would also like to see BLK progress. It serves a need to the community and competition is usually healthy - thats why I read the forum, usually without comment. If I dont have anything to add, I wont say anything.

I am still none the wiser as to why you have made inappropriate comments, but perhaps a period of reflection re-reading the posts may assist. This should remain a BLK thread and I suggest we all return to this.
