Yes, would be great to see if it was fairly priced and offered through connections to KL. Given the amount of inbound tourism to areas surrounding Dundee such as Perthshire and the golf in NE Fife you could probably get decent numbers connecting onto DND at AMS from European and tx flights.

I guess KL could operate it, but probably feel they have the area covered by their EDI/ABZ/GLA. There was an article recently where a senior KL exec suggested a new scottish airport was on the cards - journo suggested it was INV, but maybe DND is closer to the mark? Do KL still have Fk50s, or could a Fk70 operate such a route from DND?

I'd love to see some International routes from DND. An airline like KLM which does offer worldwide connections with one stop would be great! It'd certainly be able to attract many students from the rest of Europe and further afield, although this would only really be around the start/end of term times, although I'm sure tourism and business would also be quite high at other times.

I personally can't see it happening though. Does Dundee have appropriate immigration and customs services anyway?

Newdundeeflyer 24th July 2008 09:16

KlM was the name mentioned funny enough, not sure what a/c, can a f100 of 70 operate out of dundee ? I know the termonal was extended years ago to accomodate customs and immigration if need be.

virginblue 24th July 2008 12:32

Who says that KLM would operate the route with Cityhopper aircraft? The most logical move would be to have it operated by a Dornier 328 of Scot Airways for Cityjet - which is owned by Air France - which owns KLM.....

BaggageBob 24th July 2008 17:54

-- Which does NOT "own" Scot Airways. !!

So "to have it operated by a Dornier 328 of Scot Airways for Cityjet" - should probably mean - "Maybe KLM/AirFrance/VLM could sub-lease the routes to Scot Airways for a handsome sum of monies"

Scot Airways do of course have a history of operating into AMS so it may appeal to them.

Furthermore, Dundee will have no shortage of people who wish a "smoke and a pancake" - so I reckon the route would be a winner.

KLM still have several F50's.

Air France/KLM will be starting a big marketing campaign for dundee in the very near future, they see it as being a “top priority destination”.AMS is looking like a definite and a possible CDG route also

nef 24th July 2008 20:54

I'm not sure I can see them starting DND-CDG when AF don't even operate GLA-CDG, but I've got my fingers crossed for AMS!

Newdundeeflyer 25th July 2008 08:09

How long have HIAL been operating Dundee ? It cannot even be a year and so far we have 2 new routes (BHD/BHX) and the possibility of Amsterdam, Paris with KLM and also Manchester and one other with Logie.

Some turnaround for Dundee if it all comes off.

BaggageBob 25th July 2008 08:17

H.I.A - !

They have been turning the fortunes of 'Dundee International Airport' around for 6 months now.

3 Cheers for H.I.A.

Well, last time I checked, with the exception of the aircraft opf Blue Islands, all scheduled work done by Scot Airways is operating the "Cityjet For Air France" product. And with even LON served by a 30 seater aircraft (and all other routes flown with 34 seater aircraft), my guess is that a 50 seater for AMS would be a bit of an overkill capacity-wise. Plus, the route is a bit long for the rather slow Fokker 50 - whereas the Dornier 328 is about as fast as you can fly in a turboprop.

flight survey for potential AMS route now up on HIAL webbie :ok:

BISH-BASH-BOSH 9th August 2008 19:45

And we are off to Jersey because?

keith328 10th August 2008 10:07

BISH-BASH-BOSH 10th August 2008 20:11

keith328 10th August 2008 20:57

Im soooo glad to hear that!!!! I can guarantee you won't be sharing with me! But then again another of the many rumours is we are going back to SOU! All will become clear soon, I guess (hope!).

wantabe_crew 15th August 2008 16:27

Trust me Keith!!

Tum Tum at CBG has said no to SOU and a new head office in JER he said so yesterday to M
He just wants the tax free!!

keith328 26th August 2008 11:35

We will see! Don't think ScotAirways being based in JER was ever a possibility, think the rumour came about with the demise of JAMS and what would happen to their hangar.

TumbleWeedTown 22nd September 2008 18:14
