Would that be the standard brief or the Aerobatic brief DB6!!!!!!!!?

DB6 5th May 2009 20:29

Any aerobatics in the Saab strictly unintentional :E.

the_fish@blueyonder. 25th September 2009 20:33

Noticed a dornier coming in to Dundee a few days ago in the late evening, and again yesterday in the mid afternoon, which wasn't carrying the usual CityJet titles. It didn't appear tpo have any particular airline markings on it at all, although both times I was seeing the starboard side only.

Anyone shed any light on this? I haven't had a chance to go down past the airport to see them up close. :{

DB6 26th September 2009 13:52

Operated by Solid Air, Dutch registered and crewed by the sound of it.

matkat 29th September 2009 00:40

There is also a cityjet liveried 328 sitting at Leuchars.

theloudone 29th September 2009 10:17

matkat
I gather the one sat at Leuchars had some sort of engine probs !

Na, that is the ex City Star aircraft now owned by Cirrus of Germany.

Upturn in passenger numbers on LCY flights

Dundee seems to currently be enjoying an upturn in passenger numbers on the Cityjet route to / from LCY. For the past 3 months the CAA stats show increases for each month & in September there was an increase of 762 passengers vs. a year ago...enough to fill nearly 25 Dornier 328's!

Appreciate that this is a somewhat expensive 'niche' route but just curious as to why there is such an increase in demand especially when in September UK domestic traffic in total was down by -6%?

matkat 13th November 2009 11:34

Lets just hope that the introduction of parking charges does not hamper this upturn unfortunately I think it will as the extra cost of the flights plus the parking charges makes DND a less than attractive proposition, but I hope I am horribly wrong.

wishicouldland 13th November 2009 12:14

How are Loganair doing at Dundee? I'll wager the parking charges are not too popular in that camp either, KOI and INV also introducing charges to park.

ChalfontFlyer 13th November 2009 12:51

In terms of passenger numbers, they are down over the past 3 months on the BHX route by -385 passengers but they were in isolation up in September by +185. For BHD, they are marginally up by +115 over the past 3 months (July/August/ September).

I doubt if car parking charges will really have an impact given that you have to pay these at both Aberdeen & Edinburgh plus the cost of driving to these airports anyway.

goldeneye 13th November 2009 13:56

Increase in pax on the London route may be in part to the connecting policy through LCY with AF on to a variety of routes like Paris, Geneve etc.

ChalfontFlyer 13th November 2009 15:33

There maybe a small element of transfers but I would expect as the main destinations you mention can be reached direct from EDI then that would be the preference. Also, AF have been on the route now for quite some time & it just intrigues me that having been in decline for over 2 years something seems to have happened to have turned things around.

the_fish@blueyonder. 14th November 2009 18:25

I notied the car park charges mentioned in the Dundee paper, I doubt it'll have too much of an impact if I'm being honest. The car park is quite small and doesn't seem to ever be too busy whenever I've gone past the airport. This wont affect most passengers who seem to arrive/depart by Taxi anyway, which from the city centre and even the areas around Dundee doesn't cost too much anyway as I don't believe there is a surcharge for airport runs. I've even seen people walking to/from the airport during the warmer months.

National Express or Strathtay should operate a bus service which either calls regularly at the airport or at least is timed to meet with arriving/departing flights. In the future as well, should the airport grow to require the demand they could easilly build a small train station opposite the terminal, it would be on the main Aberdeen-Dundee-Stirling-Perth-Glasgow line so could prove useful.

Did anything ever come of the KLM proposal of an AMS route? I remember they had a survey out a while back.

ghost_rider24 14th November 2009 19:35

was there not a service started recently with national express which calls at the airport??

ChalfontFlyer 15th November 2009 07:11

Apparently there is a bus service, I quote from the HIAL website Dundee Airport page:

"New bus service 8X to and from the airport operates 6 days a week - Monday to Saturday from 06.30 hours until 22.30 hours, every 30 minutes. Journey time between the city centre/railiway station and aiport is approximately 5 minutes."

Regarding the KLM survey, no direct service has been started. Hopefully providing there was enough interest something would be put in place but only if the overall economic situation improves & that seems very unlikely at least in the short / medium term.

pax services jobs

can anyone advise me on where i can find out if there is any jobs going in DND as passenger services? i did look on HIAL;s website but not sure if they do pax services or if someone else does it.

any info would be greatly received.:ok:

the_fish@blueyonder. 7th April 2010 18:21

^ That'd interest me too, if anyone has any info.

Anyway, my main reason for posting was that there was an Eastern Airways
Jetstream at DND today (G-MAJC). I saw it come in, load up and then depart. Does anyone know why this unusual visitor was here today?

I've not seen this operator at DND before which makes me think it was a charter, but don't know where too. I know flybe are doing Jersey later on this year, but that's with thier own aircraft. The flight didn't seem totally full, but quite a good load anyway, wherever it was going.

tallaonehotel 8th April 2010 07:20

It was covering for Loganair who have had several tech aircraft.
It done the BHX service and back.

Captain Kerthorse 12th July 2010 23:07
