One of the paragraphs towards the end of the article suggests that 2 airlines have an interest in BHX.

No mention however of MAN or BHD.

Newdundeeflyer 18th February 2008 16:52

Spooky..... i read the item in courier and have also heard that an announcement is imminent !!!

Who or where...........i dunno ?

BaggageBob 23rd February 2008 20:05

Baggage Bill - talking of actually "handling" baggage - when was the last time you were doing just that ;)??
Maybe you have moved upwards and onwards to better things, than such lowly tasks.!
:)

Got to fly,

Cheers

Putting a RJ85 into DND will be a bigger logistical exercise than many of you seem to appreciate.

The RJs are operated by CityJet and the D328s are operated by Scot Airways under a CityJet franchise. Therefore if CityJet set up shop in DND with an RJ85, they will need to start up a base from scratch since they have no direct involvement with DND. That involves cash and recruitment etc etc - can't see it taking place really!

chrism20 25th February 2008 17:42

Given the unfortunate death of Roy Suckling recently, what could the posibilities of Cityjet buying Scotairways?

jarvis123 26th February 2008 08:55

Since CityJet announced it wanted to buy VLM, I guess that Scot Airways has suddenly become less interesting to the Irish carrier.

Serenity 26th February 2008 08:58

Correct me if i`m wrong, but didn`t VLM just get purchased by KLM/Air France last month?

NorthSouth 26th February 2008 09:04

A few weeks ago I flew out of London City on a City Jet flight:
Irish registered aircraft
English flight crew
Spanish cabin crew
Aircraft in Air France colours

and to cap it all some flights on this route are still flown by "Scot Airways"

Confused? I am.

NS

jarvis123 26th February 2008 09:30

Air France/KLM owns 100% of CityJet.

CityJet are in the process of buying VLM.

CityJet is an Irish Airline.

Scot Airways operates its routes under the CityJet banner, although some of the busier Edinburgh-London Scot Airways services are now operated by CityJet's RJs.

Everyone is confused!

Mister Geezer 26th February 2008 15:41

Actually to be strictly correct, Air France/KLM are the key players behind the acquisition of VLM and not CityJet - although there will probably be a degree of overlap between VLM and CityJet's operation. This is understandable considering the business models are so similar!

Is the hanger at Dundee still used by Scotairways as i drove past today and there were no sign of it being used by them.

BeeBopp 26th February 2008 19:29

Yes, it is still very extensively used by Scot.

abcd1234 26th February 2008 21:31

baggagebob and baggagebill, get them bags sorted ;)
yes, the hangar is still being used. scotairways planes are mainly being used for charter flights now, but may on the odd occassion if needed operate a scheduled flight.
flybe/loganair are taking over routes with an announcement apparenty being made within the next week. hopefully announce a manchester route aswell.
i think the airport would benefit from flights abroad, even just operating during summer months like the jersey flights.

goldeneye 26th February 2008 21:38

A Palma flight was tried in 1996 and it didnt really sell very well. I know as i worked for the company sellinging it, plus flight was not direct, op via SEN or BOH on an BAe 146 of Flightline.

flybe/loganair are taking over routes with an announcement apparenty being made within the next week
Which routes?

shedrule 29th February 2008 13:05

According to the Manchester thread, the rumoured Loganair operated service has been cancelled. :ugh:

goldeneye 1st March 2008 09:34

Dundee Courier has an article on the front page, confirming Loganair will make an announcement on monday at Dundee Airport.

Looks like Birmingham will be top of the list, and Manchester is widely tipped.

ALLMCC 1st March 2008 10:27

Fingers crossed the link to BHD will also be restored!

Newdundeeflyer 1st March 2008 10:31

That will be why someone from Loganair was at airport last week.......

Have also heard that Flybe may do BHD...... and if i am not mistaken.... they codeshare with....... Loganair ????

Its all coming together......
