There were no LHR-MAN remedy slots. There must be another source for the slots.

I think VS used slots they'd rented from Cyprus Airways for Manchester.

VS always sniff around airlines in distress but don't think they are seriously interested. Unless their new mentors DL/AF/KL have ideas

Nearly! The VS slots for MAN were leased TO other airlines. One of the conditions of the remedy slots is that the recipient must be using all of their own slots and cannot have any leased out. So they had to launch something quickly to be eligible. Thats why MAN started before the Scottish routes.

Do we take it now that no news is good news. As the dust has settled on all the rumours of doom and gloom has there been any movement towards a sale?

Unless we are talking about an urgent firesale situation the due diligence (financial, commercial, legal, HR, competition clearance) would take at least 6 weeks and even then the M&A team would need to get the various board approvals before making a formal bid.

Dropoffcharge 18th Dec 2018 14:08

Guess depends how you look at, shares have risen a small amount over the past few weeks, but in terms of a sale/take over, no news is probably not so good.

It seems Virgin are "talking" to Flybe, according to the BBC this morning.

talks ongoing.

Alteagod 19th Dec 2018 09:00

Taking to suggests dictating of terms by the buyer, talking with indicates a more amicable two way approach.

SealinkBF 19th Dec 2018 18:44

They've been talking for a month and sadly, VS have form in talking the talk but not walking the walk. Worrying time for Flybe.

At least they are talking. In the end we don't know what they are talking about. People assume that it's about them buying Flybe but it could be something different like a joint venture or Flybe operating as a franchise partner of Virgin. It's Xmas now so any talks won't resume till next year and Flybe aren't in imminent danger of collapse.

DND delivery 20th Dec 2018 09:31

I suppose there won’t be much progress with any talks until the festive holiday period is over any way... once in to the new year will be crunch time I’d imagine.

Is it wise to be going up against bmi in the financial condition they are currently in.

Maybe you're thinking of BMI?

Why are they picking fights with AIL again?

toledoashley 24th Dec 2018 15:17

I still think a combined flybe/bmi/loganair is the logical future. Maybe they want to show some resistance?

commit aviation 24th Dec 2018 16:10

SealinkBF Your article refers to FlyBe's LBA-INN service.
It is Flybmi that are launching LBA-MUC

TartinTon 24th Dec 2018 19:45

It's a charter flight so hardly warrants any mention. You won't be able to buy seats on the Flybe website. I assume this is for Cooks? They do quite a bit of lakes and mountains summer stuff.
