Memo at work states that the cameras are operational and fines up to £1000 can/will be issued!
also heard that hand held laser will be active on the site too

OliWW 19th Aug 2009 20:39

Lodz already operated in the past, last year in fact, but no suprise they brought that back, was popular in the winter months. Good news for EMA with the other routes, is a shame we didn't see Malta, Brest or Stockholm, but maybe for S10, will we be seeing a 7th aircraft for S10??

Also does anyone know which routes the DHL B767F's will be operating?

Good way to encourage passengers to use the airport!

Aircraft 3 EMA-CVG-EMA

Also rumour of Aerologic 777F doing a LEJ-EMA-LEJ shuttle soon.

The first 767 has arrived at Greensboro for wingtip fitting. :\

Ryanair

The Belfast City extra flight is bookable 12.35/15.00 but when I checked
10 minutes ago the new routes had disappeared from the booking engine
and OLCI (FR reading pprune?) but they were there earlier.

Interesting to see two popular BHX routes included in the new batch
(BZG & RZE). Obviously confident that the Midlands can provide enough
pax on these routes but there again Krakow, Reus, Malaga, Girona,
Palma, Alicante and Murcia operate from both already plus all the new
Canaries services which are due to start.

Shannon was the most noticeable that did not work from both.

OliWW 19th Aug 2009 21:29

Ive just looked at the Belfast City flight on the 16th November

06:30 - 07:35 FR121
12:35 - 13:35 FR1418
16:20 - 17:25 FR1412

By looking in November, every day seems to have 3 flights to Belfast City

NJTCF 20th Aug 2009 00:33

Cameras EMA.

Most passengers using EMA will never see the cameras as they use the main entrance. They are there to try and slow people down who work or make deliveries on the airport.

There is a strong poss that STN will recieve the MD11 before EMA, but there is word on the good old grapevine that we will be seeing B747's before the MD11's too.

The EWR inbound was a divert from STN. This caused the Star Air to fly direct to STN instead of dropping into EMA from Belfast.

Star Air arent cutting back until at least January at the earliest as far as I am aware.

Hope this helps

Stu

On another note, according to theairdb.com, a cancelled route for Ryanair is Malta from EMA. Never knew it operated. Anyone got any knowledge?? i.e is it being started maybe??

OliWW 20th Aug 2009 08:54

With the Star Air having possible cut backs as well as UPS, would be good for Aerologic to start operations at EMA.

Malta has never been operated by FR either :ok:

UPS@EMA 20th Aug 2009 09:21

UPS arent cutting back at all and there is only a possability that Star air will be cutting back in January and AeroLogic will be starting at EMA in the not too distant future

"Today (28th August 2009) Jet2 the low fares airline, announced a substantial investment for the Midlands, with the launch of a brand new base at East Midlands Airport, creating over 130,000 seats, seven new direct seat-only destinations and 250 new jobs for the region.

The airline will offer low fare seat-only destinations from East Midlands Airport to Lanzarote, Corfu, Dalaman, Heraklion, Paphos, Tenerife and Sharm El Sheikh which are available to book today for departures from May 2010"
In addition, the new routes will bring over 250 new jobs into the area within Jet2, the airport and supporting industries, as well as bolstering the tourism industry and region as a whole.

Penny Coates, Chief Executive at East Midlands Airport said, “The news that Jet2 will open a brand new operation from East Midlands Airport next year is extremely encouraging for the airport and the region as a whole. This news is a positive indicator for the future and puts East Midlands Airport in a strong position as we continue to extend and develop our route network.”

Pm me if you can help.

OliWW 28th Aug 2009 15:50

It will be 1 B752 at the start, with a possible 2nd in the Winter with possible plans for Ski routes such as Geneva, Salzburg and Chambery, will be ideal next Winter for LS at EMA, as for Winter 2009, bmibaby have reduced their flights to Geneva compared to last Winter and so have easyJet.

ATNotts 28th Aug 2009 16:28

Sorry to rain on the parade, but if these Jet2 flights aren't essentially IT's with a few seat onlys available to pick up any slack then I'll eat my hat.

Interesting thing will be to see which IT carrier loses out.
