All these destinations are now shoing on the Ryanair online check-in list as well as Prague which has reappeared too...

FR- 6th Dec 2011 19:24

A 7th new route has now been added, EMA-LRH. Has anyone worked out how many a/c for the summer or the line of flying?

FR-

INKJET 6th Dec 2011 19:34

FR Whats the frequency on La Rochelle? wouldn't have thought that EMA to there was big enough route for a 737, but worth a try, every pax that comes through EMA helps all airlines there.

FR- 6th Dec 2011 19:45

EMA-LRH Tue/Thur/Sat

I guess it depends where the second home owners are. I would of thought somewhere like BOD or FNI would of done better.

Yes FR the current schedule requires six based aircraft (which did include Murcia before being removed)with Alicante and Nantes still to be added there is room for early morning departures and afternoon departures to fill on most days

Airport Redundancies

Have heard a number of the airport guys are being made redundant 3 weeks before Xmas. MAG still making money, good to see Manchester continuing to ruin a great airport with a great team of people.........and we all thought the Fat Controller was bad!

Jamie2k9 8th Dec 2011 22:56

EMA - Nantes with FR dropped for next summer.

November figures & FR 2012

Source: CAA

November 2011 211849 -2.4% rolling year 4206906 + 0.8%

Not too bad considering the long periods at times between movements.

stuart-travel & FR-

I have come to the same conclusion seven based but I only checked
a week in July and there still seemed gaps on some days. I am sure
still some minor alterations to come though.

Frankfurt

Slow start by the look of it, passenger figures 2854 and if three daily in the week and one on a Sunday, that equates to 20 per flight or 41% load factor. November is not a great month to start but early days.

Brussels was down 22% but whether there are less rotations I am not sure.

Big brother or ugly sister down the M42 saw Frankfurt static at just below 20000 pax despite the loss of 90 flybe rotations compared to 2010 and Brussels up 15%.

FR- 17th Dec 2011 12:53

w flights? You mean flights that are flown by other based crews and not EMA crews. W flights are for e.g. DUB/EMA/MJV/EMA/DUB
I heard that we would be adding another based a/c next summer, so a total of 8. Time will tell.

Slow start indeed - I have flown three returns on this service since it started flying out on the 1615 flight and returning on the 1940:

7/10 November 14 pax out / 30ish pax back
21/24 November 50% out / close to 100% back
6/8 December close to 100% out and back.
Passenger returning on 8 December commented his 0600 departure on 6 December was very quiet.

One annoyance on this flight is that they usually land on the new runway at FRA which is as far as it could be from the stands bmiR use for this service so taxiing on arrival can take almost 20 minutes.

These are not necessarily W flights, could be flown by aircraft based at destination. eg LPA based machine operates LPA-EMA-LPA.

FR- 17th Dec 2011 19:22

None of them are W flights! Just flown by other based aircraft and crews!

Any early indications in what TOM are basing for s12?
Expected same as this year;

2 x 737-800
1 x 757-200
1 x 767-300 (ex-FCA part based for the longhaul)

stuart-travel 20th Dec 2011 10:09

extra flights for tcx summer 2012

Due to the change of destination on some tours for 2012 i.e. egypt and turkey no longer on the maine holiday request, the two based aircraft are now making more flights to spain and greese which with shorter flight times will do more flights.

details to follow when all flights confirmed.

Ski Destinations

.. seem very limited from EMA this year.

Shame

INKJET 31st Dec 2011 15:45

Ski limited?

I don't think CMF GVA TLS & MUC is to bad?

egnxema 31st Dec 2011 17:09

Hi INKJET,

Sorry - I should have been a little clearer - I was mainly thinking about TourOp programmes.

I am looking for France in early Feb and can only find weekly TOM flights EMA CMF which actually only serves a limited number of French ski resports.

If you want a TourOp holiday via GVA, TRN etc then you have to head to LON, BHX or MAN - and that kinda hurts my EMA supporting ego :uhoh:

The problem with self aranged ski holidays combining LoCo/Accom is the transfer from airport to resort - with many resorts being a good few hours from the airport the transfer costs are massive!

I think this year will be a self-drive (again);)

tcx & jet2 s12

anymore info on extra routes for thomas cook? and anyone know what aircraft jet 2 baseing in the summer i heard 2 757s and a 737-800? plus how many rotations a week will there be for jet2? thanks for the help

LBIA 2nd Jan 2012 11:59

Jet2 will have 2x Boeing 757-200's and 1x Boeing 737-300 based at EMA this summer 2012 season.

dwlpl 2nd Jan 2012 12:07

What was it for S11?

LBIA 2nd Jan 2012 12:24

Last summer jet2 just had the 2x Boeing 757-200's based at EMA. New for this summer will be the Boeing 737-300.

jaytay13 16th Jan 2012 11:27

Anyone know what the aircraft flying loops above ema ish around midday today was doing to settle a few office arguments Thx

Simtech 16th Jan 2012 13:27

A couple of E-3 Sentry AWACS aircraft have been reported in the area. Be careful with your use of the term "loops" - it has a specific meaning in an aeronautical sense. A Sentry performing a loop would cause considerable consternation to those in the cabin!

andyy 16th Jan 2012 14:15

Ryan Air seem to have been doing a fair bit of "circuits & bumps" in recent weeks.

OliWW 16th Jan 2012 20:22

seems to be the only FRs there are flying around at the moment

Bmi base and maintenance

Just wondered what is going to happen to the Bmi base and maintenance facility now Bmi has been swallowed up by BA / IAG.

LGS6753 19th Jan 2012 17:40

Someone (DLH/IAG) will try to sell it, or it will close.

sunday8pm 26th Jan 2012 15:27

As an outsider looking in I wonder if its possible EZY could return to EMA and pick up the routes should bmi baby close down?

Excuse the simple question but how is EMA performing as an airport at the moment in terms of passenger numbers, and what do the short and medium prospects for its future look likely to be?

j636 26th Jan 2012 16:16

Reported that a Ryanair aircraft made an emergency landing at EMA, problem with landing gear

Flight using bmibaby's new route.

Unijet 12th Feb 2012 14:14

bmibaby are doing EMA - Reus twice a week in the summer for Thomas Cook Holidays also. A growing partnership which could work well for both companies.
