Every time a 'loyalty' scheme is 'improved' or 'upgraded' it means that it has been improved and upgraded for the company! In the early updates, they only mention about collection - never how their are going to make redemptions more expensive and difficult. I sit to be corrected ...

Despite having flown lots of BA flights for years and never getting above Bronze, the best I have ever got is about £300 off flights to the USA. I regard the Executive Club benefits as being not so much a valuable reward as a small discount when you can manage to get it.

Suspect the next move is dynamic pricing of Avios reward flights, as Virgin have done.

I treated myself to a Business Class ticket to the US a few months ago (a fair price in the BA sale earlier in the year).

I won’t be doing it again

- slow check in at the CW desks in T3, disinterested, miserable FOH staff who had more important jobs to do than check people in (sitting at the check-in desk completing ‘paperwork’)

- poor quality BA Lounge in T3 - indifferent food buffet, overcrowded, lack of staff, cheap self-service drinks, poor quality wine selection

- indifferent cabin service, service without a smile, 35 minute response time to a call bell (items missing from the seat such as the ANR headset)

- the new club seat on the A350 was very nice

- at the baggage carousel, my two items of luggage were amongst the last of all hold bags to be delivered, despite the ‘Priority’ tags - a 35 minute wait for hold baggage.

Needless to say, British Airways didn’t seek any feedback after the journey unlike other operators - I can see why they don’t ask for feedback.

If I fly with BA again, it will be back to World Traveller Plus and pay a few quid for the Number 1 Lounge in T3.

(Bronze Card holder awaiting this new change with trepidation)

Never use the BA lounges at T3. You could have used the far superior Qantas and Cathay Pacific Lounges instead. Might have put a different complexion on the rest of the trip...

Unlikely, Sealink - the whole Business Class experience with British Airways was underwhelming relative to what they charge - the person across the aisle from me could have, easily, paid three times as much for the experience.

Absolutely no comparison with Business Class in the Middle or Far East airlines - British Airways even have the brass neck to charge for seat allocation in Business Class - unlike most of their competitors.

I managed to obtain a free selection, due to my Bronze status, at -7 days.

BA don’t charge their status customers for seat selection. Or full fare tickets. As you said, you got free selection as Bronze.

Many other airlines now charge. Some airlines have now unbundled business class to not even include lounge access. Why single BA out? They haven’t gone that far.

Why do BA not give free seat selection to everyone? The leisure traveller on cheaper ticket books well in advance of the high value business traveller. Result? With free seat selection the people booking the cheapest Club tickets get the best seats and your high value customers booking last minute get what’s left. And it annoys them. Happened to me on another airline, work booked me a last minute one way ticket, very expensive. I got the worst seat in the cabin. Nothing else available - despite being fairly sure my ticket was the most expensive.

BA are looking after their full fare customers and frequent flyers. Anyone else has a choice. In new Club Suites all the seats are identical, and on short haul Club every seat is a window or aisle. Nobody is forced to pay.

A very happy new year to everyone 👍

As we enter into 2025 the following information gives an insight regarding several destinations on the airlines network that are ceasing and that they are in fact pauses.

Article courtesy of ch-aviation.com

British Airways is pausing its London Heathrow - Abu Dhabi International route between London Heathrow and Abu Dhabi between March 30 and October 25, 2025, because of supply chain challenges impacting the production and repair of the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines on its B787s.

“We’re disappointed that we’ve had to make further changes to our schedule as we continue to experience delays to the delivery of engines and parts from Rolls-Royce, particularly in relation to the Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines fitted to our B787 aircraft,” a BA spokesperson told ch-aviation. “We’ve taken this action because we do not believe the issue will be solved quickly."

Rolls Royce is experiencing problems sourcing some raw materials and parts used to make the Trent 1000 engines, reducing its output of new engines and also delaying repairs to in-service engines.

British Airways has previously rejigged its schedules to accommodate these issues. On or around March 30, the airline is suspending its flights to Kuwait and Dallas/Fort Worth and is reducing its 2x daily service to Miami to daily. It has also axed its London Gatwick - New York JFK over the current northern winter and delayed the restart of flights to Kuala Lumpur International.

"We continue to work closely with Rolls-Royce to ensure the company is aware of the impact its issues are having on our schedule and customers, and seek reassurance of a prompt and reliable solution," the BA spokesperson added.

BA to resume TLV?

No mention yet on the resumption of TLV…
I know they have suspended a number of routes due to engine trouble but thought we would have heard some sort of announcement if even it’s on A321 temporarily.

I see that BA have announced changes to the big change in Executive Club that announced last year. Looks like their are increasing the amount of tier points to be earned per sector. Of course, for the greatest majority want more Avios but they have had a lot of criticism from their most frequent travellers.

HAL boss pretty much confirmed then what most of us suspected, and T5 and T2 expansion (the toast rack) will be ahead of any R3, which effectively shoves R3 at least 20 years away, and makes Reeves shovel in the ground by 2029 speech look even more silly

I've taken three long hauls in the last year with BA - LHR-LAS/SEA/DFW. I normally don't mind BA economy, I deliberately fly with them. However, on all six flight legs, the food was absolutely attrocious - bland mashed potato/pasta/chicken style affairs - not even a curry to be had. It was never this bad before, I am a seasoned international traveller (pre-covid) - is it the routes? Has something changed?

I have been to Vancouver & Seattle with BA in the last year. The food was not brilliant, but acceptable , though that was in Club. Generally, I would sum up the experience as OK; though I have to say that it was “out of sight” compared to Air Tahiti !

Alas the one business perk I don't have is club class travel...

I like BA, I always have. I feel safe and secure with them, which is the most important think to me when flying. I just wish the food was better!

You can get safe and secure with just about every other airline and much better food. But each to their own.
