Vueling
It appears that Vueling are releasing their S24 schedule….ALC & AGP already listed and both BCN & PMI are showing on the main page but no dates bookable at present.
Does this suggest BCN & PMI are making a come back with Vueling and to be announced shortly ?
Hope so…..fingers crossed 🤞

Eastern Airways
Eastern Airways love them or hate them but they’ve stuck with ORY and will do so for the winter too. Most probably as part of the Air France deal to cover ORY slots.
However with an increasing number of E90 & E70 aircraft plus the ATR’s combined with more or less zero competition at CWL would these not be a good partner for CWL ? Frequent flights to key domestic and European destinations along the lines that of some of the old Flybe routes with lower fares ? They also do quite a few sporting charter out of CWL too.
Yes before any mentions it I’m aware of the Eastern way of things at other airports where routes are tried and axed with zero or little no advertising but there are not many “regional airlines” left with aircraft sizes suitable for CWL.
Just seem to think if an agreement was in place with a good marketing campaign, reliable schedule and lower prices they would suit CWL well.

Its astonishing that Eastern are actually still in business. Are they actually running any routes that have been long time established? Apart from the Scotland routes.
They chop and change what they choose to operate. They have aircraft arriving and leaving. They've had a number of E70/E90 in the fleet and think they've just taken on a new one.
They're performance to ORY but the 3 UK airport has been questionable, as well as the advertising and passenger figures on the route.
Didn't they operate BHD from CWL, which didn't perform too well? Unless they were tied into a solid contract and built a sufficient network base at CWL so they can build sustainability and fallback for when things go wrong CWL will likely get burned.
There's desperation and there's desperation...

Saying that ORY is operating for W23 season which is good. Passenger figures are low but are increasing very slowly.
Always baffles me why they do not advertise the ORY route locally in South Wales as so many people do not know about this route. Performance wise seems to not be that bad compared to their SOU-ORY sector.
Also this route is in partnership with Air France but the AF code share flight number not shown so misses out there. It is showing as a codeshare with AF flight number on flights from ORY….but not from CWL !!
Yes they did operate CWL-BHD but that was with the based J41 they used on the PSO route to VLY. It operated to BHD between the morning VLY arrival and afternoon VLY departure so very time restricted. Totally agree that the advertising for that route was non existent and not much improvement for the ORY route since which is a shame.

The same applies to SOU-ORY, it's ridiculous tbh.
I'm surprised that Air France haven't changed that. Having an AF codeshare and flight numbers on both sectors surely makes commercial sense. Those routes operated by Eastern Airways to ORY would benefit from having a far greater emphasis on the codeshare arrangement with AF.
But hopefully at some point in the future, Air France themselves might look at operating the routes but from CDG rather than ORY. Air France are gradually closing down their own operations from ORY with an eventual closure from the airport expected by 2026.
Before Covid there was a reasonably good bus service with relatively few stops between CWL and Cardiff city centre. I'm struggling to find anything showing any suitable bus operating in 2023 - unless you count route 340 which seems to take over 1h20 and make many stops en route. Yes, I know the 340 also visits Rhoose and Barry rail stations, but bus and rail combo seems overly complicated for a relatively short journey. I'm guessing bus route 340 probably isn't really suitable with luggage by virtue of the number of stops.
Are there any plans for direct rapid public transport between CWL and Cardiff centre to be revived ?
