Sounds like we will have an official announcement pretty soon then from QR & CWL.

If all goes to plan, excellent boost and news for CWL.

Also, in other news, it’s been reported that FR are increasing BFS-CWL-BFS to x3 weekly from the winter season.

Could we be seeing Vueling reintroduce the BCN-CWL flights shortly? Some press releases suggesting possibly so following discussions between the Catalan & Welsh Governments on boosting ties.

Does not say that - just states being lead by the Catalan Government and no mention of Welsh Government subsidies at all.

Just seems the only way the airport can attract route growth is in the main by either subsidies or financial contributions of some form!

Be interesting then to see how the two governments aim to achieve it.

May not be a direct subsidy from the Airport.
Can be done in many ways like reduce fees and marketing budgets to promote routes. Happens all the time, Airlines get deals all over the world, although CWL probably relies on such deals more than others.
If its a marketing budget then it may promote Wales as an inbound destination which in turn benefits the economy.

Exactly and if it works then bonus to CWL. It reported that BCN had quite high passenger figures too so let’s hope Vueling to restart the link.

Bit of a mixed bag - Paris off to a 'slow start' with single figures, BFS about 80 whereas BHD averaging about 50 is not too bad.

Yeah. I couldn’t remember when T3 started the flights so how many there were. Was it March or April?

Qatar have 16 A350s reactivated and 14 left to go, 3 of which are in the process of being tested for their return. From what I read it was the return of these aircraft that would see more Dreamliners free to operate on smaller PAX routes. I wonder how long it will be before they announce the return of Cardiff. If it’s due to return by the end of the year they will want to make the most of the festive season sales. Although they have announced routes that are due to start back in March 2024 so perhaps we will be waiting a little longer. I just hope they get a decent head start on Emirates if they announce Bristol - although they will be in waiting a while for their new aircraft deliveries.

Interesting news report on ITV main news last night about Wales and how it only attract 2% of worldwide travellers in the U.K. Got to kind of agree with it as having travelled a fair bit around the globe, “Visit Britain” just seem to focus on London, Scotland and even Northern Ireland !! Wales is rarely referenced or referred too.

if CWL is going to be a success then there needs to be a big push on the promotion of Wales as a destination just like Scotland do.

Wales doesn't have any really "internationally known" scenery or places.

Scotland you have the Highlands, Harry Potter railway line, Edinburgh for example. Plus kilts, tartan, bagpipes and Scotch

Wales doesn't have the same identity

I would say that's made their return to CDF much more likely. Filing slots as we know is not a definitive yes but shows you're on the airlines radar

QR filed slots at BHX for S22 but never showed up, then again for S23 when they did. Slots were filed (I think) in Jan then official announcement for a July start made in March - so the timing of this slot filing for CWL fits time wise with how they did BHX.

Yeah I agree with you and also think that x4 flights a week a good place to start instead of daily…..then always the scope to increase to daily in time.

On another subject, shame CWL can’t get some of these Turkish seasonal airlines in. BRS has got SunExpress & Corendon and look like Southwind Airlines also for S24.

Also does anyone know if the Eastern/Air France ORY flight continues for the winter season ?
