Ref to Debonair reminded me that I was once part of their Frequent Sufferer Program.

LRT reporting that there is now no planned start date for the Dart. Staff are now going on bonding sessions so they know that they still have a job.

As reported by LRT
The Luton DART does not have an opening date as of yet however this will be announced when all the operational, regulatory, and health and safety testing is complete.
The accompanying photos shows 16 members of staff at a bonding session, held at a cream soda bar, while Luton Rising and DARTCo continues to recruit management. Council taxpayer funded deep pockets comes to mind.

They are still recruiting ambassadors at £10.50 an hour but not a planned 24/7 operation. Probably 4am to midnight with staff signing on at 3:45, which replaces a 24/7 operation by Thameslink.

Full Job Description

Position: Passenger Care Ambassador
Location: Luton DART / Airport
Rate of Pay: £10.50ph
Hours: PT or FT Fully Flexible across weekends and bank holidays.
Shift times are anywhere from 3.45am – 2pm and 2pm -12am Monday to Sunday

The above quote posted by ltnman was taken from the Luton Rising Facebook page.

What was noticeable in the photographs of the young staff members was that there wasn’t a single white person in any photo. Are the Ethnic English frightened of an early start, long hours, low pay and working weekends and bank holidays?

Hallelujah I think he’s got it. Precisely why agriculture is f*****. And hospitality. And the care sector. And health. British jobs for British people and all that.

They are British. More likely a deliberate policy to recruit only people from certain backgrounds. Luton has a very high Eastern European population who have a strong work ethic. Seems they were excluded as well if people were recruited based on their skin colour.

Probably in well paid jobs elsewhere, or don't get interviews because of their ethnic background (white and English). Mind you, the local demographic would fit with the image. Plenty of young lads sailing over the water could do a job......

A lot of extrapolation from one set of pictures. Get yr head out yr papers and look around the schools, hospitals, shops, airports (!) etc and you see lots of "Ethnic English" who aren't "frightened of an early start, long hours, low pay and working weekends and bank holidays"

Anyway, back to aviation

Anyone like to hazard a guess how much the Dart debts increase for every month the service is further delayed now that they are paying staff to sit at home playing on their playstations rather than working at the Dart stations?

No doubt small change compared to the big picture.

Oh well, extra STN traffic during runway closure will have to go somewhere else. DHL maybe x4 day then.
Flyr & SunExpress are obviously keen.

Looking after the regulars. Ryanair have gained a few slots also. New destinations Cologne and Frankfurt with some oddities including Vueling operating some flights. All will be revealed in the fullness of time plus also some additional ad hoc slots available for sports charters etc.

Holidays or food, light and heat? For those that live on the margins many will be making choices soon with Luton impacted by consolidations come next year regardless of new routes.

Not really a Luton problem so not a worthwhile comment on Luton thread.
Consolidation by who/whom? Wizzair in a slightly weaker position this week after shareprice drop due to departing CFO.
New Saudi routes are interesting from EU base, might we see such routes from LTN one day?
Ryanair & Easyjet applied for loads of more slots W22, not approved so they do not agree.

Thats told them. Industry is widely believing in a full market recovery, Asia aside in 2023 though headwinds in recruitment may again impede that.

Not just going to impact Luton but I fail to see how a full recovery will happen. We're going into a recession, inflation is going through the roof and 50% of UK households are forecast to go into fuel poverty in the autumn. That's going to hit the ability of many to go on holiday and travel by plane.
