That’s my point - if they have European fleets with EJU there is no ‘Brexit’ requirement to set up European bases - it must just be for commercial/operational reasons. Jet2 do something similar that also helps them recover their programme more quickly if they have tech issues in that part of the world/Canaries, avoiding the EC261 compensation etc if they keep delays under 3 hours.

While Easyjet moved aircraft onto the Austrian register, Swiss aircraft were always registered there even before the Brexit vote as they took over a Swiss carrier. The aircraft are still managed from their Luton HQ and would have been crewed anyway by locals and not UK citizens.
Wizz put aircraft on the UK register that are managed from Hungry that are crewed by Eastern European’s with many living in the UK.
Ryanair have moved Irish aircraft onto the Maltese register.
Regarding restricting Brits traveling to the EU, it won’t happen in any meaningful way if at all. Too many countries want our tourist spending money just like they want tourists from around the world.

I wouldn’t be so sure, sounds like a repeat of the popular ‘German car manufacturers’ claim which now push has come to shove has fallen flat. Some areas would be only too pleased to see the back of lower-end mass tourism from the UK and more generally there are other markets which can fill the gap. Take the Balearics as an example of this, go there in the early 90s and it would be Brits, Germans, pockets of Scandinavians and a smattering of Swiss, Austrians, Italians. By the end of the 90s the Russians and other Central/Eastern Europeans had arrived. Now there are plenty of Americans in Ibiza, departure boards busy with flights from all over Europe. Times change but Brexit is sending the UK backwards.

We saw the reaction of Spain and Portugal when UK quarantine rules kicked in. Brits will alway be welcome in Europe even if they are not too keen on us as a people and this is the reason why

Please don't make the mistake of thinking that the EU speaks for all its member states, and electorates. It is a classic self-selecting elite which has insulated itself from the inconveniences of democracy.

You misunderstand the economic system in which we live. No company or industry can cope with contraction. They are all geared to growth. Once the Spanish Government (to give an example) realize that their tax take from ex-pat Brits or from British tourists is declining, they will change their attitude. Likewise. once the German car manufacturers see reduced exports to UK, they will put pressure on their government.

I suspect the UK will shortly do a deal with the EU anyway with the UK signing up to EU rules on a host of things inc. trade, security, social security (I.e. health care), etc. Don't forget BoJo is PM and has his majority now so he has no need for hard Brexiters after transition. In my view all the 'breaking international law' stuff is just a smokescreen to placate Brexiters and won't happen. In the context of the Covid crisis I also suspect it doesn't have the political priority for the UK govt it once had.

What is going on with EZY flights not showing in the app or on the website?
We have booked MAN-AGP (Malaga) on 21st December, both app and website showing as no flights available on that date, yet not had any confirmation from EZY that the flight has been cancelled...does this mean the flight is actually full (doubtful) or there is a technical problem...or should I expect an e mail confirming the dreaded cancellation?

Wow - how the mighty fall!
It's even worse than it looks too as there will be a lot of double counting due to a lot of those being domestic pairings; as in the case of both BHX flights to BFS and EDI - knock one each off both those airports' list. Ditto a lot of the Scottish and Belfast flights will be going to LGW and LTN. Liverpool's 1 flight was probably going to BFS too.
Wonder how many (sorry ...how few) international flights there are in that bunch and where to?
Frankly though, it's difficult to think of a singe reason to fly atm. What's the point of going anywhere, when most places are vitually police states with freedom a thing of the past? No joy in any of what's on offer so best to stay at home.

Not disagreeing with the general gist of your comments - but, just been to Madeira for 8 days & it certainly is not as you describe. One test on arrival, result within 7 hours, & the rest of the time free to enjoy a relaxing holiday. And, I don’t think I saw a policeman - except at the airport.

I’ve been lucky to get away a few times this year and whilst restrictions are tightening generally, we found things to be quite relaxed provided you wear your mask. The U.K. governments quarantine policy is the main thing that has stifled demand fo leisure destinations. The underlying demand is actually pretty strong.
The number of EasyJet rotations are probably a targeted measure to keep yields viable on existing frequencies.

Another day, another sale and leaseback:

The article also says that EZY will only operate 20% of its plan until year-end.
